Downtown Fuquay-Varina Rotary Club We meet the first and third Wednesday mornings at 7:30am at Fuquay CoWorking at 1000 N. Main St.

and via ZOOM (https://zoom.us/j/125504059 and password is dtfvrotary). The last Wednesday of the month we meet for fellowship at Brus on Main at 8:00am. Projects that this club has worked on since 2010 include: providing clothes and toys for children in the G.A.P. (Grandparents as Parents) program, bell-ringing for the Salvation Army, sponsoring the Interact Club at FVHS, organizing the Tunes at Sunset community concert series, building and maintaining "pocket parks" in town, delivering Meals on Wheels, organizing the Peace and Conflict Resolution speaker series, helping MMIA clean up the yards of Medal of Honor winners, installing and maintaining multiple Little Free Libraries, helping feed children through Pine Acres Community Center via service and donations, and more..,

Our meeting yesterday was truly memorable. We presented support checks to the Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry and Pine Acres Community Center to fund food insecurity projects. And, we listened to a great presentation by Jeff Mobley about his 3-year bike odyssey to champion rides to chemo appointments. His website, chemoriders.org shares how he spelled the word “HELP!” by crisscrossing the country by bicycle. Truly inspiring!!

This morning’s speaker is Jeff Mobley from ChemoRiders. Jeff Molby is a Rotarian from Caro, Michigan where he'd been volunteering for the American Cancer Society through their Relay for Life event. He's a minimalist who loves to travel, so in 2023, he sold everything and set off on a three-year bike tour around the country to help people get to their chemo appointments. ACS named him their 2024 Patient Support Volunteer of the Year for his efforts.

It's that time of year -- time to determine the 2026 Fuquay-Varina Citizen of the Year!!

We are looking for nominations of individuals in our community who:
A) represent our diverse citizenry (gender, age, ethnicity, cultural background.
B) have performed exemplary community work outside of their employment that is visible to the residents of Fuquay-Varina.
and C) has exhibited good character in the performance of said community volunteerism.

On Saturday evening, our club attended the Pine Acres Fundraising Gala in celebration of their 60+ years of service in the community! At the event, we were presented with a Legacy Supporter Award for our support of the center and its many programs! It was a complete surprise, but we are proud of our partnership over the years and happy to move forward into the future with this great organization in the heart of our community! 🌎💙
