This is a good one.
Look at all of these teams out here. Not all of these players are going to continue to play and that's ok. I've always said that I support my players/previous players in anything that they do and I truly mean that. You can ask most of them.
I see almost every single player that I've ever coached and I cheer them on and we speak. That's how it should be. These kids should be able to continue to be friends and stay in touch without the adults feelings getting in the way.
It's not a perfect world and sometimes people don't do things the right (honest) way or feelings get hurt so there's always an exception but not many.
Sports are about the players, the kids, not all of these adults out here acting out. Do better.
As a coach, I know how much families pour into this sport.
The lessons. The tournaments. The equipment. The travel. The weekends spent at the fields. The early mornings and late nights.
And yes… softball can be expensive. 😂🥎
But I also get a front row seat to what that investment is really building.
I watch girls learn how to fail and come back the next day.
I watch them gain confidence in themselves.
I watch them learn discipline, accountability, teamwork and how to work for something they really want.
I watch them struggle with something for MONTHS and then see the look on their face when it finally clicks.
Those are lessons that go so much further than softball.
Will every girl play in college? No.
Will every girl play this game forever? No.
But the confidence, work ethic, friendships, resilience and memories they’re building can stay with them long after they hang up their cleats.
So when someone asks, “Is all that money really worth it?”
From where I’m standing as a coach…
You’re investing in a whole lot more than softball. 🥎❤️
