Special thank you to Tom Garner who participated in almost every prep event to share his experiences, the advisors Bryan Currie, Adam Smith, Bart Youngblood, Lacey Burnett, Kris McAlister, Tim Mayfield, Joe Eisenman, and David Plitt for your guidance, time and commitment - to the Scouts for your willingness to work hard and step away from electronics 😉 - and to the parents for helping to prepare the Scouts with the needed gear both also physically and medically.

Mötley Crew, the backcountry rockstars!

From left to right…

Thank you…

Shey – For being an excellent crew leader with a watchful eye. You always rose early, ready for the trek ahead, and brought energy and focus to each day while teaching us sign language with humor along the trail. “All Done.”

Reilly – For stepping beyond your comfort zone again and again, and for reminding the crew to celebrate our progress both big and small. You lifted all of us up!

Dee Jay – For keeping spirits high and laughter rolling, even when the trail was steep and the miles long. Your humor and cheerleading as we passsed you while caterpillaring to the many summits, kept us going. Amazing how you could always find a quick seat in nature and sometimes nature would follow you, right? 😁

Evan – For showing remarkable grit and determination every day, and always being ready to help a fellow crew member. Your positivity and generosity didn’t go unnoticed. We will always remember the cards games and your impeccable memory of song lyrics.

Logan – For always keeping a caring, protective eye on your dad. It was a joy to witness your father-son bond along the trail and your thoughtful check-ins, “How are you doing, Dad?” The two of you could break out in song together, no matter what the context! 🎼

Bart – For your sharp navigation skills and keen attention to detail. We enjoyed watching you take in all the beauty Philmont had to offer, while sharing stories from your past trek as a youth. We especially loved how every phrase seemed to spark a song lyric or movie quote. Your enthusiasm and excitement made the trail even more enjoyable.

And Lacey – As the smallest and mightiest  member of our crew, you showed tremendous grit and strength!  I loved how you could take a power nap anywhere! Your outstanding organizational skills kept us on track, and your steady guidance allowed the youth to grow into their roles as the trek unfolded. Thank you for dedicating your time and energy to help make this journey a success! MACAW!!

The fun moments and experiences we shared will never be forgotten. They’ll be remembered, retold, and passed on for generations to come.
