Bring Learning to Life with Extension!

The Itawamba County Extension Office offers hands-on educational programs that can be brought directly into local schools to engage students and connect classroom learning to real-world experiences!

📝 Welcome to the Real World — Students explore careers, budgeting, financial decisions, and what it takes to navigate life after high school through an interactive, real-world simulation.

🐣 Hatch Out — Students experience the excitement of watching eggs hatch while learning about embryology, life cycles, responsibility, and agriculture through a hands-on learning experience.

These are just two of the educational opportunities we can provide to schools, with programs designed to support classroom learning while giving students experiences they’ll remember!

It’s Time to Sign Up for Livestock Judging!

We are getting ready to form the 2027 Itawamba County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams! If your child is interested in livestock, agriculture, or developing their evaluation and public speaking skills, we would love to have them join us!

📝 Youth interested in participating must complete the Google Form to register.
📅 Registration Deadline: October 26, 2026

The state livestock judging contest will be held in the spring, but we want to get an early start planning practices and preparing our teams for competition!

Whether your child has livestock experience or is completely new to livestock judging, this is a great opportunity to learn, build confidence, and be part of a team! 🍀

The 4-H Western Heritage Project combines a comprehensive study of the Old West with the fastest growing shooting sports discipline in the world – western action shooting. The purpose of this project is to provide an avenue for 4-H members and adult leaders to experience the lifestyles and cultures of the Old West from the period of around 1860-1900 through a living history approach to learning while instilling the concepts of gun safety and personal responsibility. Members dress in Old West clothing, shoot replica fi****ms of the frontier period, and expand their knowledge of U.S. history.

Come learn about upcoming activities, events, and how you can get involved with Itawamba County 4-H Western Heritage.

🎯 We Need Shooting Sports Instructors! 🎯

Itawamba County 4-H is looking to add several new shooting sports instructors for the upcoming 4-H year!

Our number of youth participating in shooting sports continues to grow each year, and we’ve reached a point where we need additional instructors to help ensure we are preparing our members for success!

We are seeking certified instructors in the following disciplines:
🎯 Archery
🎯 Sh***un
🎯 R***e
🎯 Pistol
🎯 Muzzleloader
🎯 Slingshot
🎯 Western Heritage

Becoming a certified instructor does require some paperwork, a background check, and completion of required training—but you’ll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of our 4-H members!
