Come see what Cub Scouting is all about and help raise money for Pack 941. The Cubmaster's Cup came to me in a dream. The pinewood derby is one of the most popular events, that just about all Cub Scout Packs hold, once a year. The pinewood derby is a race where a parent and son together, build a car out of a simple block of pine, 4 plastic wheels and 4 nails (axles). The cars are raced down a 42 f
oot long aluminum track, using only gravity to power them. The primary function of the Cubmaster's Cup is to introduce Cub Scouting to the general public in hopes that the event will stir enough interest to bring another youth into Scouting. Secondarily, we hope to raise money to fund some of our yearly activities and provide financial assistance to youth that may not be able to join Cub Scouts otherwise. The entry fee for the Cubmaster's Cup is $50 per car. This will include an official BSA pinewood derby kit (all the parts you need to build a car), a copy of the Pack 941 pinewood derby rules, and one ticket for a brisket dinner at the event. Additional brisket dinners can be purchased for $25 per adult and $15 per child under 12. Contact Kevin at 361-676-8572 for car kits and dinner tickets. All entrants will race in four heats, with the times averaged to determine the winner. Second and third places will receive a trophy with first place taking home the coveted Cubmaster's Cup. Those top three finishers will then get the chance to race against the top three Cub Scouts, from Pack 941, to see how they really stack-up! There will also be a silent auction held simultaneously. The race is tentatively set for Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Irene Stern Community Center in Fulshear. Check-in and silent auction will begin a 4PM, racing begins at 5PM, dinner at 6PM.
