Calling all middle & high school students! 📣🌎
Interested in sustainability, leadership, and making a positive impact in your community? Join Cool OC’s Youth Climate Leadership Program this summer!

Choose from 3 summer sessions (late June, early July, or late July) and participate in 10 hours of interactive training across 5 engaging sessions. Students will explore environmental topics, build leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and complete a capstone project.

✅ Virtual or in-person options
✅ Hands-on activities & interactive workshops
✅ Certificate of completion
✅ $50 stipend upon completion

Spots are limited — apply by May 29 at 11:59 PM for priority consideration!

We had a great time at the Buena Park Eggstravaganza & Sustainability Fair in Buena Park. Our College Corps interns Evelyn and Pesi were proud to serve at this community event alongside fellow volunteers, where they helped educate attendees on climate change and sustainable practices. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn and connect with us.

Proud to support this community-led Truslow Park cleanup and garden care day. 🌿

Community members and volunteers came together to remove litter, refresh the garden, and care for this shared space. We’re honored to stand alongside efforts that make neighborhoods cleaner, greener, and more connected.

The community garden continues to be a meaningful part of this initiative, providing a place for education, connection, and local food growth.🌽

This event is a strong reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together!👏

We hosted our first Composting Workshop at the Buena Park Community Garden a few weeks ago with our friends at the program. It was so great to see so many people come together to learn and connect.

We covered composting basics, best practices, vermicomposting, and how to create nutrient rich compost, while also highlighting the importance of reducing food waste at home for a greener planet.

Thank you to Councilmember Carlos Franco for coming by!

After lovely spring weather, it was suddenly 90 degrees today in Orange County, CA! I was worried about the worms which like an ideal temperature of about 55-77 degrees so added some ice blocks.

Permaculture Design: Designing Homes, Gardens & Farms for a Changing Climate 🌱

Join Cool OC for a virtual conversation with permaculture designers Lucian Toma and Benito Olamendi , two practitioners who are living the work. Lucian acquired land and started his own farm using the same permaculture principles he teaches, while Benito runs a permaculture design business helping homeowners transform their gardens and homes.

Together, they’ll share how permaculture can be applied at every scale — from small home modifications and backyard gardens to working farms and future homesteads — offering practical ideas for building resilience in a changing climate.
