This soccer season, we want to recognize a persistent obstacle faced by many women and their families around the world, and more than a few right here in the St. Joseph Church and School community. Breast cancer is a challenge many are battling daily. As an athletic association and parish ministry, we want to lend our spirit of teamwork and the strength of will that our Wolfpack provides this community to be another voice in this fight.
This season, we will add the words "THINK PINK" to our soccer team and captains’ armbands and changing their color to pink. These, along with custom black socks with pink ribbons will be provided to all league players from our U8 and up soccer teams as our show of solidarity with those in the breast cancer fight. Further, the St. Joseph Athletic Association has made a $1000 donation to The Pink Fund in the names of Mrs. Amy Thomas and Mrs. Jennifer Ward.
Mrs. Thomas is very well known by virtually all our St. Joseph School kids and their families. She is and has been an integral part of their educational development and their faith formation at St. Joe's. Mrs. Thomas was diagnosed with breast cancer this past March and has gone headfirst into the fight. As of today, she is cancer free and making a strong recovery from surgery. Her courage and positive mindset are an example to all.
Mrs. Ward is from one of our terrific parish families. She is a steadfast supporter of her son Liam, who is in his 6th year of playing soccer at St. Joe's. Jen has been in the battle with breast cancer since January 2020 and has endured a difficult struggle along the way. She has been through surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Jen's husband, Tim, stepped away from his job as a Baltimore County school teacher this past winter, to care for Jen full time and to give Liam the time and attention he needs. To this day, Jen is not backing down and she is a shining example of grace in the midst of struggle.
These two AMAZING ladies, their families, and millions more have our love and admiration. But many need help with the day-to-day needs that a cancer diagnosis brings. The Pink Fund helps with that, by meeting families where they are and actively working to offset the financial burdens and costs that families and caregivers face.

We want to say a very special THANK YOU to our pastor, and friend, Fr. Jesse Bolger! For a decade now, Fr. Jesse has been a terrific mentor and leader to our athletic ministry. We endured challenges and victories together, but we always came away stronger. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Fr. Jesse worked with us, the school, and the archdiocese to allow our kids to keep playing soccer, when all of other programs were shut down. He was always available for feedback or a conversation when needed. Often, Fr Jesse would stop by before an early Saturday morning game, after his Rosary walk around the track, to say prayers with our kids. It’s not often that parishes have such dynamic and attentive leaders. St. Joe’s has been truly blessed.
Thank you Father, and good luck in your next endeavor!

The day has come, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate the last (but certainly not least) three graduating SJAA athletes today!

First, SJAA is proud to honor Sara V. and her soccer journey with the Wolfpack. Sara, thank you for the effort, the smiles, and the team spirit you shared over the years. Congratulations on your next chapter at Notre Dame Prep. We can't wait to cheer you on!

Next up, congratulations to Savannah W. on her SJAA volleyball journey. Savannah, thank you for your dedication, sportsmanship, and the pride you brought to your team. We are so proud to celebrate you and wish you the very best at Perry Hall High. We know you will be a force on the volleyball court, and we will be there to cheer you on!

And finally, we proudly celebrate Elizabeth and her time with SJAA volleyball. Elizabeth, thank you for your commitment to your team, your coaches, and the Wolfpack community. As you move on to Mercy, know that SJAA is grateful for the memories you helped create and proud of the athlete you have become. Stand tall at the net and be proud of all you have accomplished!

The countdown is on, and today we continue to honor our incredible SJAA athletes! Today we celebrate Ava R. and Leo R.!

SJAA is starting today off with a big congratulations to Ava R. and her volleyball journey. Ava, thank you for your hard work, focus, and the pride you brought to the Wolfpack uniform. We are grateful for the memories you helped create and wish you all the best at St. Francis Academy. We can't wait to cheer you on!
