Though retired, Challenge Point's program director, Larry Alexander is still hiking and writing. His first post-retirement mission was to bring back his sold-out books Through Hiker's Eyes that was loved by many. Pick up a copy today!

What happens when an Alabama Boy Scout, a California dreamer, a New England young gun, a Southern princess, and a blue-eyed All American girl cross paths in the woods and embark on a five-month hike through fourteen states and a colorful patchwork of characters? It has been over 18 months since our last teambuilding retreat during which time we have watched people fined and even imprisoned for doing what is fundamental to our program. Sadly, the near future doesn’t look much brighter for organizations like ours. It is for that reason we are closing down Challenge Point for good, before the government does it for us.

We want to thank everyone who has joined in our 23-year adventure. Whether you joined us on a trek, or took on our challenges, you’ve all had a part in inspiring and supporting this dream. Without you there would be no stories to tell.

Thanks to all the leaders who took a chance and let us come in and push your groups beyond their comfort zones. Your vision and heart to encourage your teams through the challenges made it all possible.

Thanks to all those who donated and cheered us on during our Appalachian Trail and Pacific Crest Trail fundraising hikes. Without you our rubber chickens and marshmallows would have rotted away many years ago.

And a special thanks to all the volunteers and interns who were the muscle and minds behind the magic. You made this organization feel like a family.

Sincerely,
Larry Alexander
Program Director

Many people have asked for updates, so since this is Challenge Point's 20 year anniversary, I thought I would oblige. While CP no longer does backpacking treks or camps, Larry Alexander continues to do team-building retreats. When he's not doing those, he is trying to learn how to build a website so he can update our terribly old one.
Regarding land, the next step in making the 50 acres livable is building a bathhouse and running water to it. Unfortunately, we lost financial support when Kaleb Skinner Farm began a large chicken complex down the road.
That's where Challenge Point stands. Larry will continue to do retreats out of the trailer until the SUV or his back breaks. They both have over 200,000 miles on them and it appears to be a close race.😃

For a few years now, we have been working to clear a forest to create our Activity/Powerball Field. Well, mission accomplished.

2015 had many twist and turns that slowed us down, but I'm hoping 2016 will see more progress. Here is where we stand.

You have only to decide upon what it is you want and then stay with it, never deviating from the course no matter how long it takes, or how rough the road, until you have accomplished it.
