Highlander’s closing out their inaugural season in Hagerstown 5/17/26

Missing a couple of guys this weekend, but we went out on a good note!

This season we had the chance to explore some of our lax neighbors in VA, WV, and MD. It was good to see how different areas approach the game, and for our boys to get that experience as we develop a style that represents our own region.

Many of these young men picked up a stick for the first time in March, some in April. All of them have played other sports, but wanted to try something new. What they found was a game that was aggressive, fast, and exciting. They surprised their parents by showing more tenacity fighting for ground balls in lacrosse than they ever did challenging a ball in soccer, pursuing a tackle in football, or boxing out under the net in basketball; something many of them haven’t seen from their kids until now.

This group will continue to bond as they’ve started something special together. They will also grow as more of our area’s young athletes discover a sport that is everything they love about their “traditional” sports and then some, as well as a program with coaches who want to see them be successful both on and off the lacrosse field, as athletes, students, and as people.
