The Virginia Dept of Wildlife Resources is fielding calls about bears finding food rewards near homes. Please remove or secure all bear attractants to prevent conflicts with bears and avoid property damage. If you need to report a conflict with a bear, please call the Wildlife Conflict Helpline @ 855-571-9003 or go to DWR's website

Remove or secure all garbage in bear-resistant can or secure building.
Lock vehicles and remove bear attractants from inside vehicles.
Put garbage out the day of pick up. DO NOT keep garbage in vehicles or truck beds.
Use electric fencing to protect chickens, bees, and fruit trees.
let neighbors know, so they too can prevent problems.
