At Frisco’s first veteran’s memorial, the polished granite VETERANS MEMORIAL URN donated by the FRISCO GARDEN CLUB was originally dedicated in 1948. Relocated to its current memorial site in 2004, it remains a lasting symbol of Frisco’s tradition of honoring its veterans. A new 2026 plaque now commemorates the Garden Club’s original gift and their enduring dedication to all who have served.

The cost of the plaque was paid by the Frisco Garden Club, along with donations from four FVAC members.

With the recent dedication of the Purple Heart Monument at the Frisco Veterans Memorial, and the enthusiastic support of the Play Frisco - Parks & Recreation team, we've created a captivating drone video we hope you will enjoy!

Our goal was to celebrate the memorial's beauty and significance as a tribute to the selfless sacrifices of the men, women, and families who have fought for freedom worldwide. 🇺🇸💜🙏🏻

After nearly two years of dedication, planning, and hard work, the Frisco Purple Heart Monument is complete!

This project was led by a team of veterans and a proud citizen patriot - the same group behind the successful 2021 Frisco Veterans Memorial refresh.

For that project, Scott identified the need, and the team came together under John and Rob’s leadership, with Rob as project manager, and both Scott and Skip as advisors. Specifically, drawing from their combined experience, and love of military history, both Scott and Skip ensured every plaque surrounding the monument was grammatically correct and historically accurate.

This time, Scott proposed the Purple Heart Monument and took the lead as project manager, with all four of us staying actively involved every step of the way - from concept and design to funding and installation.

A huge Thank You to everyone who supported this mission, whether through time, expertise, or financial contributions. This monument stands as a lasting tribute to our Purple Heart recipients and their sacrifice.

John Keating, Frisco City Council, Mayor Pro Tem and member of the Frisco Veterans Advisory Committee (FVAC), served 13 years as a U.S. Army Counterintelligence Agent and is a combat veteran.

In 2021, he helped lead the refresh of the Frisco Veterans Memorial and was instrumental in engaging Leadership Frisco Class 24 for the project.

More recently, as a key member of the FVAC Purple Heart Monument team, he played both a leadership role and contributed to the monument’s design. Also, John led the fundraising efforts, and made a significant financial donation of his own.
