ADOPTED: Fleur!

Or should we say… Daisy! 🌼

Fleur has officially been rebranded, renamed and adopted by Wes and Erika. Congratulations to all three of them!

Wes and Erika drove more than four hours through rain, construction traffic and whatever other nonsense the roads could throw at them to claim their new little girl. Fleur was initially a little skeptical about these two strangers who had apparently driven halfway across Texas to meet her. But it didn’t take long for her to decide they were acceptable.

Soon she was handing out kisses, accepting loves and generally behaving as though she had known all along that this was her day.

And then, shortly after getting into the car for the trip home, Daisy was OUT. Cold. Lights off. Completely unavailable for comment. Curled up with her favorite blankie and apparently satisfied that she had secured herself a family.

She slept through the night on her very first night in her new home, then woke up ready for the important business of being a puppy and having fun with her new dad and mom.

We love a soft landing, and Daisy has had exactly that. ❤️

Congratulations, Daisy, on your new name, your new family and your very happy-ever-after. We wish you a long, thoroughly spoiled life with Wes and Erika!

Go be fabulous, little Daisy. You’ve got places to go and a wonderful life to live.

AVAILABLE: Fleur! 🐾

OK, friends. We’ve got a unicorn on our hands, and she is looking for a great home!

Fleur is a 4-month-old Westie puppy who is playful, adorable, healthy, wonderfully Westie-ish and still under the impression that “toilet training” is a suggestion rather than a requirement.

She has no skin issues, loves other dogs and is, in short, a completely typical Westie puppy. Which means she is also nippy, yappy, busy and absolutely certain that whatever you are doing, she should be involved in it.

If you already have a dog, please understand that Fleur will likely nip, yap, pester, climb on, annoy and generally treat your older dog like a combination of jungle gym, chew toy and personal entertainment system. Your existing dog may have opinions about this. Fleur will not care.

She’s a puppy. A very cute puppy. But still a puppy.

Conditions of adoption:

• Fleur must be spayed at a safe time determined by a veterinarian.
• Fleur is not currently microchipped. WRNT will provide her microchip and lifetime registration, and we prefer to have our puppies chipped while they are under anesthesia for their spay.

If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, energetic little Westie who will bring a tremendous amount of joy, laughter and household chaos, Fleur may be your girl. ❤️

An update on the 42 Westies seized from a hoarding situation in Washington state.

🐾 WEST HIGHLAND TERRIER UPDATE 🐾

We can’t thank our community enough for the incredible support shown over the past few weeks. On August 31, we took in 44 dogs, 42 Westies and 2 others, through an animal cruelty investigation with the City of Marysville.

These past couple of weeks have been intense and emotional. Many of the dogs arrived heavily matted and covered in urine and f***s. Some had never even walked on a leash. One dog became ill with parvovirus, which required a quarantine period for the entire group. The toll on our shelter and staff has been immense, but your encouragement, donations, and messages from around the world have truly lifted us up.

We’re grateful to share that the dogs have now been officially released to us. That means we’ve been able to begin proper grooming, schedule spay/neuter surgeries, and start contacting interested adopters so these pups can move on to brighter futures as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, called, emailed, and sent love our way. Your support makes all the difference, for these Westies and for every animal who comes through our doors. ❤️

So much appreciation for the Marysville WA Police team for their incredible work on this case!

A huge thanks to the teams from Groombar Marysville, WA and A Pet Spa for coming to the shelter yesterday to help the westies. They spent a total of 7 hours and shaved off 14 pounds of mats!

We are very sorry to report that Bella has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. She was so well loved in her last two years. We can't thank Ana and James enough for providing the perfect home for Bella, where she was loved and cared for despite all of her health issues. They never failed her, and she was loved to the end. Our condolences to her loving family.

We’re nearing the finish line of North Texas Giving Day! 🐾

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated and joined us in our mission to rescue, rehab, and rehome this ridiculous, wonderful, expensive little breed we all love so much.

And if you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time!

You can donate to Westie Rescue of North Texas any time of year, but today is a particularly good day to help us reach our $7,500 goal.

What is great is what your donations make possible: getting a Westie who needs us healthy, happy, and ready for a forever home.
So if you’ve been thinking, “I really should donate to those crazy Westie people…”, this is your sign. ❤️

Please help us reach our $7,500 goal before the Giving Day dust settles!

Thank you for believing in our mission and, most importantly, in the wee white dogs who need us. 🐶❤️

Okay, friends. We’ve shown you the dogs. We’ve shown you the vet bills. We’ve shown you the math. Now we’re going to ask you for money. Because, that’s how rescue works.

In 2026, Westie Rescue of North Texas has cared for 12 dogs, and as of the end of August, we’ve spent $20,149.58 on veterinary care. That’s more than $1,600 per dog. And our adoption fees? $300–$650.

You may be sensing a theme here.

We have spent $9,476.95 more than we’ve brought in through donations and adoption fees this year.

This is not a sustainable financial model. It is, however, a pretty excellent model for taking dogs who need us, getting them healthy, and sending them off to wonderful families where they can spend the rest of their lives being spoiled, opinionated little Scottish dogs.

So here is our shameless North Texas Giving Day ask: Our goal is $7,500.

If you can donate, please do. If you can’t, sharing this post helps enormously.

Because there will be another Westie. There always is. And when that little dog shows up needing help, we want to be able to say, “Yes.”

Help us keep saying yes. ❤️🐾

Introducing Nibbles, who was adopted just this past weekend! ❤️
Nibbles came to us from a backyard breeder/hoarding situation that we won’t get into here. She had spent the first four years of her life being bred and delivering puppies, so we were incredibly grateful to be able to get her out of that situation and give her a different life.

She needed a LOT of care, including being spayed so she would never again have to be bred or lose another litter of puppies. By the time we got her healthy and ready for her new life, Nibbles had accumulated a veterinary tab of $2,900.

Her adoption fee was $500.

Which means Nibbles’ grand financial contribution to her own rescue was approximately 17% of her medical expenses. She really needs to work on her margins.

But that’s why we’re being frank about the costs of rescuing these dogs. It takes donations to make it possible for us to say yes to dogs like Nibbles, get them the care they need, and send them off to the happy lives they deserve.

Nibbles has now officially retired from the puppy business and is living the life every Westie deserves: loved, spoiled, and absolutely not contributing to the household budget. 🐾

Let’s talk about Westies on this fine North Texas Giving Day!

Enter Pete, a fine Westie who briefly found himself in a career for which he was wildly underqualified: farm dog. Pete was surrendered by someone west of Fort Worth who had been keeping him as a farm dog. He arrived resplendent with fleas and ticks and hadn’t been on heartworm prevention in several years. Thankfully, he was heartworm negative, because we were already going to have words with the universe about this one.

Once Pete was vetted, we discovered he had a hip/leg issue that required an FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, which is medical terminology for “Well, this is going to cost a lot of money.”

Pete’s surgery and veterinary care totaled $3,300. His adoption fee was $350. So, basically, Pete’s adoption covered approximately 10% of his medical tab.

After several weeks of rehab with our wonderful foster parents, Pete was ready for his next chapter. He was adopted and is now living the life he was clearly destined for: beloved household pet.

Goodbye, farm life. Way to go, Pete! ❤️🐾

We need your help! Please support other “farm dogs” who will come into our rescue by donating today: https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/organization/Westie-Rescue-Of-North-Texas

OK, let’s talk turkey. 🦃

Nobody makes money in rescue. In fact, if we’re not holding steady, we’re losing money. And in 2026, we have spent $9,500 more than we’ve brought in through donations and adoption fees.

We’ve been careful with our money, but even the most financially illiterate among us can look at that number and say, “Well, that seems…suboptimal.”

It’s not sustainable. And if we want to keep saying YES when the next wee white dog needs help, we need YOUR help.

Our goal today is $7,500. Other rescues’ goals are much higher, but we are committed to doing more with less.

Would you please help us meet or exceed that goal by donating to Westie Rescue of North Texas?

Because somewhere out there is a Westie who hasn’t needed us yet.

But will.

Please donate here:

In 2018 Westie Rescue Of North Texas helped over 100 Westies and Westie mixes become healthy and happy again. Many received a new lease on life that they had never had! WRNT also entered a number of rescues into our Walking Them Home Program. The WTH program is a hospice...
