Since 2013, we've donated 60,000+ items to 450 facilities nationwide, 3 countries & we've touched 300,000+ lives! Founded in 2013, Kayla Cares 4 Kids brings happiness to children staying in hospitals by donating entertainment and educational items to medical facilities and Ronald McDonald Houses nationwide. We collect new and used game consoles, video games, movies, books, games and more to donate

. We have donated 50,000+ items to 450 medical venues in all 50 states, plus three countries! We are also doing playroom makeovers!

This was a fun and meaningful experience! Kayla Cares 4 Kids had the honor of donating 100 new books to the pediatric department at Howard University Hospital.

This donation was deeply personal. We first connected with Dr. Carla Davis, whose work in food allergies and eosinophilic conditions hits close to home. Kayla lives with eosinophilic colitis, and Ethan with Eosinophilic Esophagitis.

We are grateful to Dr. Habiballah Shariat and his incredible team for welcoming us and helping us create a space where children can choose a book to keep.

Through their “Literacy for Children Project,” these books will provide distraction, comfort, and connection.

In 2013, when I was 11 years old, I founded Kayla Cares 4 Kids with the hope of spreading joy to sick kids in hospitals that were just like me. It started as a simple idea of collecting DVDs to donate to one facility. Now, 13 years later to the date, we have donated 60,000 entertainment and educational items to 450 children’s medical facilities around the world.

We have so much to celebrate: from developing our “Learn and Play” Laptop Program, playroom makeovers, partnerships with incredible corporations and more, we are doing more than I ever could have envisioned all of those years ago. The celebration continues because I turn 24 today and feel so lucky to continue to do what I love now and always.

You all have watched me and my journey grow and change over the years, and have shown so much endless love and support. That support drives me and Kayla Cares 4 Kids forward year after year. I am so grateful every single day to every person that has been and continues to be involved in our mission and believe in my goal to help sick kids feel better one smile at a time! Even though it is my name on the title, Kayla Cares 4 Kids wouldn’t be where it is without the thousands of volunteers, board members, donors, partners, and my family, so we are celebrating you all today too! Woohoo!

We can’t wait for what this year has in store, and there is so much more good to come!

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day of service, we have brought volunteers to help us bring joy to Ronald McDonald House Dallas through arts and crafts and teddy bears! King’s life of service and his commitment to change are values that are a necessity in making the world a better place. We honor his commitment by bringing people together today to help serve patients and bring light to the Dallas community. Today is a day on and not a day off. Giving back and making a difference is so rewarding and we are using this day as a reminder that what we do is important today and everyday.

We get so much joy every time we do activities at the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas! This time we brought our elves (volunteers from AAA Dallas) to help us create intricate holiday crafts. We built nutcracker countdowns, Santa’s mailboxes, fancy miniature trees and laughed and shared stories with dozens of new friends. A bonus is that the CEO, Jill, is a fellow Longhorn so we became fast friends. Hook ‘Em Horns!

Dear Friends,

As we enter the holiday season, we’re reminded of the incredible impact that kindness, compassion, and community can make. At Kayla Cares 4 Kids, our mission to bring comfort and joy to children facing medical challenges continues every day, and this year has been filled with laughter, hope and meaningful moments.

From hospital playrooms filled with new entertainment options to children receiving devices that help them learn and stay connected, your support has helped make a difficult journey just a little bit brighter. We see the difference in every child we meet, every family's story and every smile.

One particular moment that stuck out was a tablet donation we made to a little boy at the Ronald McDonald House in Little Rock, Arkansas, who's iPad recently broke. By providing him a new device, he could play games with friends, continue to do school work, and find creativity through drawing with the stylus. He was so overjoyed and gave us the biggest hug! His dad told us that he had not seen his son that happy in a long time. It's these moments that make what we do so special.

I started this organization 12 years ago with the hopes of making sick kids' lives just a little brighter, and I genuinely could not have done it without you. There is an unmatched joy to the work we are able to do, and I am grateful every day that together as a community we can give back.

To our donors, volunteers, partners, board members and friends: thank you! Your generosity allows us to keep delivering hope where it’s needed most. We truly could not do this work without you, and we are deeply grateful for your continued belief in our mission.

Today is the largest charity fundraiser in the Lone Star State—North Texas Giving Day!

In celebration, Kayla Cares 4 Kids recently hosted a community service event in Frisco, Texas — and the love and support we received was nothing short of amazing! ❤️

Nearly 75 volunteers of all ages came together to create over 225 individual craft kits and no-sew blankets, all lovingly prepared for children in local hospitals. These kits will bring comfort and smiles to kids who need it most during their hospital stays.

We’re incredibly grateful to our donors, sponsors, and volunteers whose generosity and time are helping us spread joy and healing through the power of creativity. And to our partner children’s hospitals — thank you for allowing us to be part of your patients’ journeys.

Kayla Cares 4 Kids proudly donated 100 individual craft kits to our friends at Paley Institute in West Palm Beach! 🖌️✂️

These kits will give pediatric patients the chance to create, imagine, and have a little fun while they heal. 💕 We believe that a splash of color and a spark of creativity can brighten even the toughest days. 🌈

We had a spectacular time at the D CEO nonprofit awards. Kayla Cares 4 Kids was one of 5 finalists for Nonprofit of the Year in our category. Celebrated at the world famous Gilley’s Dallas - home of the mechanical bull used in “Urban Cowboy”, we were honored to be a part of this special celebration!

On July 2nd, we had the honor of meeting five amazing families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Little Rock, Arkansas, and giving each one of them a new tablet PC. Their stories of searching for a diagnosis, finding the right specialist, being exasperated yet hopeful and being grateful for the support from the community reminds us of when we were in their shoes (and sometimes still are). This day provided smiles for everyone - the grateful staff and families, and it filled our hearts with joy to give back!

I am so honored and excited to announce that Kayla Cares 4 Kids is a finalist for Organization of the Year (Micro) in DMagazine’s Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards for 2025. To be amongst 133 finalists doing incredible work is a true honor. I recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Communications and Leadership and have been putting the skills I have learned in the classroom directly into the work I do as a nonprofit leader. Because of my busy schedule as a college student, I have not been as active on social media updating you all on the behind the scenes work and donations we have made this past year, but we have been busy, and to be recognized for that work really motivates me! We are always striving to help children learn, play and grow and our mission works towards accomplishing that every day and in everything we do. Grateful to be a finalist!
