🚔🎉 HAPPY RETIREMENT, CAPTAIN LAUERSDORF! 🎉🚔

After 32 years with the Friendswood Police Department, Captain Doug Lauersdorf is officially retiring… or so he says. 😂

Since 1994, Captain Lauersdorf has seen a lot of changes including new technology, new policies, new cars, new radios, new recruits, and a few chiefs. Through it all, he’s been a steady leader, a great friend, and someone who has left his mark on the Friendswood Police Department and the community he served.

Of course, after 32 years, Captain Lauersdorf apparently decided retirement sounded too relaxing. So he’s heading over to become the Chief Administrator/Chief of Police for the Alvin College Police Department.

We’re incredibly proud of Captain Lauersdorf and grateful for his years of service, leadership, friendship, and countless memories.

Congratulations, Captain! You’ve earned the retirement… even if you refuse to actually retire! 🇺🇸👏

32 years. One incredible career. And apparently, still not enough.

Enjoy the next chapter!

Some traditions are bigger than the parade itself.

Today, retired Friendswood Police Officer Barry Yodzis stopped by to make sure Officer Carson Jacobs was ready to handle what many consider the most challenging traffic point along the Friendswood 4th of July Parade route. It's a responsibility Barry handled for many years, and today he proudly passed a little of that knowledge on to the next generation.

Moments like these are special. They remind us that policing is more than a job—it's a tradition of service, mentorship, and looking out for one another. The experience and dedication of those who came before continue to shape the officers serving our community today.

As we celebrate our nation's independence, we're grateful for those who have worn the badge before us, those wearing it today, and the community we're honored to serve.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from the Friendswood Police Officers Association! Stay safe, enjoy the day, and God bless America.

Congratulations to Friendswood’s Finest Behind the Headset!

We are proud to announce that Friendswood has nominees for both Telecommunicator of the Year and Team of the Year at the 2026 Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Awards Luncheon.

These outstanding professionals will represent Friendswood among 37 emergency communications centers and more than 1,200 public safety telecommunicators from across the Greater Houston region. Being selected for recognition among such a talented group is a tremendous accomplishment and reflects the dedication, professionalism, and skill of our communications team.

Dispatcher Scott Peel has been nominated for Telecommunicator of the Year for his exceptional support, initiative, and investigative assistance during a July 2025 missing person case that ultimately led to the safe recovery of a child in Colorado.

Dispatchers Nikki Durham and Joshua Allen have been nominated for Team of the Year for their outstanding coordination and management of a May 2025 bank robbery investigation. Their efforts helped law enforcement track the suspect to Houston, resulting in the suspect's arrest and the recovery of stolen funds.

While their work is often performed behind the scenes, our dispatchers are the critical first link in every emergency response. Their calm professionalism, quick thinking, and unwavering commitment to public safety make a difference every day.

Please join us in congratulating Scott Peel, Nikki Durham, and Joshua Allen on this well-deserved recognition. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the exceptional service they provide to our community.

Congratulations and best of luck at the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Awards Luncheon this Wednesday! 🚔📞🏆

Today, we were blessed by the wonderful ladies' group from First Baptist Church, who stopped by and delivered some much-appreciated "Snaky Snax" for our officers.

More importantly, they took the time to pray for our officers, our department, and our families before sharing these treats. Their kindness, encouragement, and support mean more than words can express.

We are incredibly grateful to serve a community that cares so deeply for those who wear the badge. Gestures like these remind us why Friendswood is such a special place to call home.

Thank you to the ladies of First Baptist Church for your thoughtfulness, your prayers, and your generosity. We truly love and appreciate our citizens!
