On April 16th, 2014, Christy Crow, tragically passed away after being diagnosed with Infectious Mononucleosis, just 8 days before her 20th birthday. Christy was in her first semester as a transfer student at Texas A&M University, seeking a degree in education. Since her passing, we established the Christy's Wish Foundation, and have sought to achieve 4 main goals:
1) Educate students from 6th gra
de through college about the severity of Mononucleosis, and the ways in which they can prevent contracting the disease.
2) We established an agreement with the Texas A&M Foundation to fund a $100,000 endowment that will provide scholarships every year for future transfer students seeking a degree in education.
3) Provide scholarships to local high school seniors who show an interest in the Fine Arts. Applying students are required to submit an essay for our review.
4) Assisting Texas elementary school teachers with grant opportunities for classroom supplies and books. In agreement, the teachers will designate a portion of their classroom to be known as "Christy's Corner", a place where imaginative thinking and cognitive learning takes place.
