We are chartered by Friendswood Rotary Club in Friendswood, TX. We are part of the Northern Star District, and the Bay Area Council. We meet most Tuesdays 7p at Friendswood Methodist Church next to Westwood Elementary. 204 W Edgewood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546. We are fortunate to have lots of experienced leaders. Our leaders are dedicated to making scouting a fun, educational, and rewarding experi
ence for your son and your family. Our pack stresses qualities such as respect, honesty, and camaraderie. While our focus is on providing a fulfilling scouting experience for our boys, we also offer many family-oriented events as well, such as family campouts and outings. Pack 442 is comprised of smaller groups of six to eight scouts each called “dens.” Scouts usually meet with their den two or three times each month to work toward completing requirements needed to earn their next rank in scouting. Most of the scouting experience occurs at these “den meetings,” which are presided over by “Den Leaders.” The Den Leaders determine when and where their dens meet, but it is usually at a fixed time and place. Because different dens meet at different times and locations, parents can choose the den that best suits their schedules. Den meetings are about one-hour long. From September to May, the whole pack (i.e., all of the scouts in Pack 442, regardless of rank) meets once per month at a “pack meeting.” At pack meetings, we play games, hear super-cool guest speakers, recognize scout achievements, and generally get together and have fun! The Cubmaster presides over the Pack Meeting, which is usually on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7:00 PM to about 8:15 PM. In addition to the den activities, the pack holds or participates in numerous activities throughout the year, including:
4th of July Parade
Fall family campout
Pinewood Derby
Various service projects including Christmas Joy – sponsoring a family, and Scouting for Food
Blue & Gold Banquet
Spring family campout
Rank overnights at places like Downtown Aquarium, Tall Ship Elisa, Lexington Aircraft Carrier, Zoo, Children’s Museum, and Space City Houston
But wait, there’s more! Throughout the year, there are also several District and Council-level events that scouts can attend, including day camps, weekend overnight camps, week-long overnight camps, and Cub-O-Ree. Everybody has time for scouting
Worried that, with everything else you and your child have going on, scouting will take up too much time? Don’t be! You can adjust the level of your scout’s activities according to your personal needs. There’s no pressure to earn rank each year (though we strive to help each scout do so) and there is no attendance requirement. If your scout needs to miss a den meeting due to a sports or other conflict, he can simply complete a fun make-up activity at home and it will count toward earning his rank (although, again, there’s no requirement he do so). And if you want to fully immerse your scout in the scouting world, we can certainly accommodate that too! Dues
Dues are $80/year. Money from dues is used to purchase den and pack meeting materials, badges and awards, and to supplement the costs to scouts for outings and campouts. Troops 442/4420
If your child is 6th-12th grade, reach out and we can refer you to Scout Troops 442/4420 who usually meet at the same time and location as our Cub Scout Group.
