Let’s talk about the Albritton Project. Like many of you, I want to see it completed. But it’s important to understand that as a private developer on their own private property the City doesn’t have the legal authority to force an owner to fund and complete a construction project.
In the meantime, the site is maintained and although only partially completed it contributes $144,000+ annually in tax revenue, for our community, over $130,000 more per year than when it was a vacant lot.
Good governance means applying the same rules fairly and consistently to everyone. We all want to see this project completed, and I’ll continue staying engaged and openly communicating its progress.
