Beverly was full of spirit & passion for nature, people and animals. Whether stranger or friend, she stepped in when someone needed help. After 4 years of misdiagnoses, she was diagnosed with myoleiosarcoma in 2001. She passed June 23, 2003.

Rein in Sarcoma provides grant funding for sarcoma research. These grants often serve as a catalyst for larger research awards. RIS grant awardee, Darko Bosnakovski, DVM, PhD shared research that has uncovered a key mechanism that allows CIC::DUX4 sarcoma tumors to hide from the immune system.

By targeting the CIC::DUX4/P300/CBP pathway, researchers restored immune recognition and triggered tumor regression in preclinical models—opening the door to potential new treatment strategies for this aggressive sarcoma subtype.

Miranda was diagnosed just after her 15th birthday with Metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma. She was given a 30% chance of survival. She is 10 years cancer-free!

During treatment, Miranda became an advocate for kids fighting cancer and traveled frequently to Washington, DC where she spoke on the National Mall and met with Senators and Congressmen and she spoke on the National Stock Exchange in New York. RIS has also been an amazing presence in Miranda’s life since her diagnosis and she considers it an honor and a privilege to advocate for sarcoma research and awareness.

As a survivor, Miranda works hard and plays hard. She is a member of the RIS Board, loves to travel, volunteer, and spend time with friends and family. No matter what she does, Miranda will always work with RIS to advocate for sarcoma fighters in any way she can.
