What is Relay for Life? It is a fundraiser event. These events take place across America; involving entire communities Funds raised go to the American Cancer Society. The bulk of the funds go toward research. Funds also go to the communities for wigs, books, port pillows, lodging and transportation and much more. It is an overnight event. Many participants choose to camp out on the site. A typical

event will have music, food, and vendors of mementos, gifts, luminaires and more. What makes this fundraising vehicle different is that it is based on ‘teams, not individuals. These teams are made up of people working in the same company or belonging to the same club. Teams hold fundraising events prior to the main event and may also participate in the fundraising walking relay. Survivors are honored. Those who have passed are remembered.
