Thought you might enjoy a glimpse of the turnout for Friday’s film. It was a beautiful, sunny evening so I only set up seating for 30 at the Community Center. Boy, was I wrong. People streamed in and were captivated by the film from start to finish. We had 87 attendees, a big crowd for our little island. Darren Hoerner, Director Lopez Island Library

Director Gary Milliken from our 2025 festival on his film "Cowboy Meditations"...

Elizabeth Fowler of the Western Heritage in Payson Arizona wrote about the film,

“I was spellbound… The film was lovingly done — simple, nuanced. The director and cinematographer let the landscape and the subject do all the talking…. The sound and editing are exquisite, letting the viewer partake without explanation. The effect of the storytelling is immediate, personal, and universal.”

There's a man who dived with a 22-foot manta ray for nearly two decades. Who helped protect an entire marine reserve. Who is now in his eighties and making one final expedition to say goodbye.

That man is Terry Kennedy. And his story will stay with you.

The Last Dive screens free May 22 at 7 PM in Friday Harbor at the San Juan Island Library and on Lopez Island at the Lopez Center. Followed by a recorded interview with Director Cody Sheehy.
