Tickets are going quickly for the final screening of "Women’s Work: The Untold Story of America’s Female Farmers" this Friday, May 29th at 7pm at the Lopez Grange! We're looking forward to hearing from Lena Jones , Christine Langley (Lopez Harvest), and Kathryn Thomas (Horsedrawn Farm).

Together we'll hear about their experiences farming on Lopez Island, enjoy tastes of locally grown food from each of their farms, and more treats from , , tea from and flowers from !

We can't wait for tonight's event in Friday Harbor to kick off our film screening series of "Women's Work: the Untold Story of America's Female Farmers!" We'll hear from island farmers Amanda Zee (Sweet Earth Farm), Angie Freeman-Shepherd (Honeycomb Farm) and Louisa Brouwer (Ferryboat Seeds) about their experiences farming on San Juan Island, and enjoy a delicious spread of local food.

Market Chef is preparing a salad with Ferry Boat Seeds barley and beans, and cooking meat donated by Angie Freeman-Shepard. Sweet Earth Farm is contributing fresh arugula and chive blossoms, and we’ll have bread from Bakery San Juan, tins of Matt’s Fresh Fish caught off South Beach, wine from San Juan Vineyard, and local cheese to enjoy. Join the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild for a series of film screenings of "Women’s Work: The Untold Story of America’s Female Farmers" produced by Audra Mulkern, founder of the Female Farmer Project, and a panel conversation with local women farmers.

Hear the stories and experiences of those who feed us, taste the food they grow, and celebrate 2026 being declared the International Year of the Woman Farmer by the United Nations.

Join Us for the 2026 Farmer & Rancher Listening Sessions!

The Agricultural Resource Committee (ARC) of San Juan County invites farmers, ranchers, and value-added producers to share your questions, concerns, and ideas for a strong farming future in our islands.
When: Thursday, February 4th | 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Where:
• Lopez Island: Library (2225 Fisherman Bay Rd)
• Orcas Island: Library (500 Rose Street)
• San Juan Island: SJICD Office (915 Spring Street)

We’ll meet in person on each island, then connect virtually to share insights across all islands. Your input helps shape ARC’s work and supports advocacy and funding for local agriculture.

The FARM Fund application is open!

The purpose of the San Juan Islands FARM (Food, Agriculture, Relationships, Markets) Fund is to support commercial farms, ranches, and producers in San Juan County in strengthening local agriculture and stewarding the land through regenerative practices. Producers throughout San Juan County are invited to apply for grants up to $2,500 to support their spring growing season.

Complete applications are due January 25th, 2026.
