✨ Friday Focus: A Night Under the Stars 2026 ✨

What a night.

Because of your generosity, youth were given an evening filled with laughter, friendship, dancing, karaoke, games, and memories that will last a lifetime. In fact, the fun didn’t stop when the clock said it should. The celebration was extended an extra hour because no one was ready for it to end!

To protect the confidentiality of the youth we serve, identities have been secured and not all attendees are featured in photos. What we can share is that they truly danced the night away and experienced the kind of joy every young person deserves.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers, donors, sponsors, staff, and community partners. Thank you for investing in our youth and helping create moments that remind them they are valued, celebrated, and loved.

A very special thank you to BTC’s Youth Coordinator Yatzari Victoria. This prom was truly her labor of love. Her heart, vision, and dedication helped transform an idea into an unforgettable experience for our youth. Yatzari consistently goes above and beyond, and this beautiful evening was a reflection of the care she pours into the lives of young people every single day.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country.
Their sacrifice secured freedoms many of us experience every single day, often without even realizing the cost.
At Breaking the Chains, we honor the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who never made it home, as well as the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.
May we never take freedom for granted.
May we live with gratitude.
And may we always remember the price that was paid.

Healing happens in safe places.
The image in this post is a glimpse into BTC’s single ladies homes — a place where women impacted by exploitation have found peace, safety, healing, and restoration for over 10 years. Over the years, this home has become more than just a place to stay. It has become a space filled with laughter, prayer, growth, and second chances.
Two years ago, Breaking the Chains was incredibly blessed with a second home dedicated to mothers and children. Families are already residing there, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to provide them with safety and stability. But as we continue building this home into a true sanctuary, we could really use some help bringing the same warmth, comfort, and love that has been poured into our original home over the last 12 years.
Like many homes filled with life and healing, it is already in need of some tender loving care.
From a much-needed HVAC unit and kitchen remodel to exterior paint, repairs, and outdoor improvements, we are believing for the resources to help create a welcoming and restorative environment for every mother and child who walks through those doors.

What an incredible night at the ballpark! ⚾🎆
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported Breaking The Chains at last night’s Grizzlies game. Your support means so much and every ticket, every conversation, and every person showing up helps us continue bringing hope, healing, and restoration to lives impacted by human trafficking.
Not only did the Grizzlies bring home the WIN, but the drone show was absolutely unforgettable and such a fun way to end an amazing evening!
We also want to give a very special congratulations to our very own Ranbir Kaur, recognized as the Hero of the Game! Your service to our country and your dedication to our community continue to inspire so many. We are incredibly proud to celebrate you and grateful for the heart you bring to everything you do.
I know I didn’t get photos of everyone. We were spread out all over the stadium, but here’s a glimpse of a few great moments from an unforgettable night together.

Today brought one of those unexpected moments that stopped me in my tracks.
Most people know me as the CEO of Breaking The Chains, but around here I also proudly hold the title of unofficial maintenance gal… especially when our main maintenance guy (my husband 😄) puts me on light duty. I was outside resetting sprinklers after our gardeners had finished and turned the corner to see this.
A simple hedge. Shaped into a heart.
And I immediately got emotional.
Because this wasn’t just landscaping. This was love. This was someone taking an extra moment to go above and beyond. It was a reminder that the little things matter. That excellence matters. That details matter.
At Breaking The Chains, our girls have often come from places where they have felt forgotten, overlooked, discarded, or unloved. So when people intentionally pour care into the spaces they live in, they are helping send a message far bigger than they may realize:
You matter. You are worth beauty. You are worth effort. You are loved.
To our incredible gardening partners, thank you for not just maintaining a property but helping create a place that feels like home and healing.
The smallest acts often leave the biggest impact.

**Friday Focus: Mental Health Awareness Month**

Human trafficking is not only a crime. It is a profound trauma that can impact the mind, body, spirit, and sense of safety for years.

Many people do not realize that mental health and human trafficking are deeply connected. Mental health concerns can increase vulnerability before exploitation, and the trauma of trafficking can intensify or create conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, dissociation, grief, shame, and chronic fear. Research consistently shows that depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress are common among trafficking survivors, and traffickers often exploit existing vulnerabilities to create dependency and control.

At Breaking the Chains, we know healing requires more than rescue. It requires safety. Trust. Stabilization. Trauma-informed care. Advocacy. Housing. Connection. Time. And a community willing to understand that survival responses are not character flaws. They are often the evidence of trauma.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite you to look deeper. Behind every crisis may be a story. Behind every behavior may be pain. Behind every survivor is a person worthy of dignity, patience, care, and hope.

When we support mental health, we support prevention.
When we support trauma-informed services, we support healing.
When we support survivors, we help break chains.
