Focus Friday 💙

There is **so much impact happening behind the scenes at Breaking The Chains**, and today we wanted to give you just a small glimpse into what a day in the life at BTC can look like.

Over the past two weeks, **six individuals have graduated from various programs at BTC!** 🎓 Each certificate represents hard work, perseverance, growth, and another step toward a new chapter.

But one of our favorite moments was a little different. We had the privilege of putting together a dorm-room gift basket and helping one of our participants get settled into her **new dorm at Fresno State.** ❤️ From surviving to healing, growing, dreaming, and now pursuing her education, these are the moments that remind us why this work matters. ➡️Thank you Denise ( pictured below)

Because confidentiality is something we hold incredibly close, you won’t always see the faces, hear the stories, or know the names of the people behind these victories.

**But please know they are happening. Every. Single. Day.**

Behind our doors are celebrations, graduations, new jobs, new homes, college classrooms, restored hope, and people discovering that their past does not have to determine their future.

**FRIDAY FOCUS | Back to School Means Back to Connection 💙**

As we prepare our kids for another school year, we think about backpacks, supplies, new clothes, transportation, and schedules. But there’s something even more important we need to prepare for: **staying connected.**

Back to school means busy mornings, homework, sports, work schedules, new friendships, and more time online. In the middle of all that activity, meaningful conversations can easily turn into, *“How was school?”* or *“Did you finish your homework?”*

This year, let’s go deeper.

Ask about their friends. Know who they’re talking to online. Talk openly about social media, gaming, bullying, peer pressure, grooming, inappropriate messages, and healthy relationships. Most importantly, make sure they know they can come to you when something doesn’t feel right.

Our kids are going to look for belonging, validation, and people who make them feel seen. **When we are not intentionally building relationships with them, somebody else will.**

Put the phones down at dinner. Take advantage of the car rides. Ask the extra question. Listen before trying to fix everything. Learn about their online world.

The greatest protection we can give our children isn’t always another rule. Sometimes, **it’s a relationship strong enough that when something doesn’t feel right, they know exactly who to come to.**

**Friday Focus**

This week, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the **Mexican Consulate** and the incredible honor of being invited to speak at their annual event in recognition of **World Day Against Human Trafficking**.

Human trafficking does not discriminate. It impacts every community, every culture, and every socioeconomic background. That is why education is one of the most powerful tools we have. When we equip individuals, families, professionals, and communities with knowledge, we can recognize the warning signs, intervene sooner, and prevent exploitation before it reaches our own neighborhoods and loved ones.

Thank you to the Mexican Consulate for your leadership, your partnership, and your commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us. Together, through awareness, education, and collaboration, we can build safer communities for everyone.

💙**Friday Focus**💙

There is something incredibly powerful about seeing our local law enforcement come together, not in competition against one another, but in unity for a cause that matters.

Every day, these men and women put on the badge knowing they may be called into someone else’s worst moment. They run toward danger, protect the vulnerable, and stand watch over our neighborhoods while most of us are safely asleep. At Breaking the Chains, we have the privilege of working alongside many of these heroes as they help rescue, protect, and restore survivors of human trafficking. We have witnessed firsthand the compassion, courage, and commitment they bring to our community.

This September, those same agencies will trade patrol cars for barbecue pits as they battle for bragging rights at the inaugural **Battle of the Badges** during the Producers Blue BBQ. While there will only be one Blue BBQ champion, every agency participating is already a champion in the eyes of the families they serve.

To every officer, deputy, dispatcher, detective, and first responder: **thank you**. Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed, and your partnership makes our community stronger and our children safer.

Together, we are proving that when a community stands united, hope wins and communities thrive.
