Thankful for Sgt Imirian and his miraculous recovery! God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!!!

On October 26, 2024, Sergeant George Imirian responded to reports of gunfire and a homicide scene when the armed suspect returned and opened fire on his patrol vehicle.

Despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, Sgt. Imirian continued the pursuit and engaged the suspect. Before collapsing from blood loss, he called for medical assistance for both himself and the suspect—helping end the incident and prevent further harm.

An extraordinary display of courage, composure, and commitment to protecting others.

The Fresno Police & Fire Chaplaincy is honored to partner with the City of Fresno in celebrating America's 250th birthday.
Over the past several weeks, our volunteers have helped assemble hundreds of American flags that now proudly line the streets of Fresno and will remain flying through Veterans Day.

Today, we invite our community to take part in a special Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Fresno Veterans Memorial Auditorium at 2PM. Join us as we honor our nation's flag and celebrate the freedoms and values it represents.

"The Chaplaincy's NEST is a place where officers are able to refresh themselves, hydrate, and use a restroom, etc. The NEST is not only for officers, but for the community who were displaced. It is important to us that we minimize the inconvenience they were suffering." — Chief Mindy Casto, Fresno Police Department

When major incidents occur, the impact extends far beyond the emergency itself. First responders may spend hours on scene, while residents and families can find themselves suddenly displaced, uncertain, and overwhelmed.

That's why the Fresno Police & Fire Chaplaincy created the NEST; a mobile support unit designed to bring comfort, care, and practical resources directly to the scene. Whether it's providing cold water on a hot day, a place to rest, a private space for difficult conversations, or simply a restroom when one isn't available, the NEST serves both those who respond and those affected by tragedy.

We are grateful for Chief Casto's recognition of this important resource and proud to partner with our public safety agencies to care for our community when it's needed most.

Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. A former Project STEALTH student recently stopped by our office to check in with our mentors; a reminder that the relationships built through the program continue long after a student leaves.

As she was getting ready to head home on her scooter, Arlyne noticed she wasn't wearing a helmet. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to provide one on the spot, helping ensure she could ride safely. Before leaving, she added a few fun stickers from our Project STEALTH team to make it her own and rode away with a smile.

It's a small moment, but one that reflects what Project STEALTH is all about: building relationships, meeting needs, and helping young people thrive.

When the temperature rises, a cold bottle of water can mean more than just refreshment; it can be a reminder that someone cares.

Our chaplains are often found delivering cold water and encouragement to first responders, victims, families, and community members at incident scenes throughout Fresno County. Whether it's a long investigation, a major fire, or a difficult day in the heat, we're committed to being First to Serve.

Sometimes ministry looks like a prayer. Sometimes it looks like a listening ear. And sometimes it looks like an ice-cold bottle of water on a hot day.
