🤝 Collaboration Over Conflict 🤝
On December 23, Cultiva La Salud, Fresno Building Healthy Communities, and Community Health System jointly filed a request to pause their ongoing lawsuit in Fresno Superior Court.

In a powerful shared statement, they emphasized a commitment to community service:
“We all have agreed that our time and resources are better spent working together... to improve the delivery of medical care to the underserved in our community.”
This move highlights the potential for meaningful collaboration between hospitals and nonprofits to prioritize the well-being of the people they serve.
Let’s hope this sets a new standard for resolving disputes with the community in mind.

🚨 Billion-Dollar Lawsuit on Pause 🚨
A Fresno County judge has approved a stay on the billion-dollar lawsuit against Community Health System until June. Both sides have decided to take discussions behind closed doors, focusing on negotiations that could improve medical care for underserved communities.

The lawsuit, brought forward by Fresno nonprofits, accuses the health system of misusing $1B in taxpayer funds meant for low-income patient care.
Now, with productive talks underway, both sides aim to prioritize community health and set a precedent for resolving disputes effectively.

Ensuring everyone has access to quality healthcare, regardless of where they live, is crucial because it directly impacts the well-being of individuals and communities. When healthcare services are unevenly distributed, some areas may face higher rates of illness and preventable deaths. By advocating for a fair healthcare system, we can work towards healthier communities and a more just society.

The California Healthy Places Index (HPI) highlights major health disparities between communities served by Fresno’s two main hospitals. Clovis Community Hospital is located in “More Healthy” areas with higher income, education, and access to resources, while Fresno CRMC is surrounded by “Less Healthy” areas with lower income, limited education, and restricted access to essential resources. This contrast underscores the importance of addressing social factors that impact community health.

🏥Healthcare is not just about doctors and medicine. The Care4Fresno campaign is dedicated to ensuring that public dollars are allocated equitably and with proper oversight, guaranteeing all Fresno County residents have access to quality healthcare when they need it, where they need it.

Our healthcare system is deeply imbalanced. While patients at some facilities receive state-of-the-art care, others face overcrowded conditions and outdated resources. Public funds have been directed to certain areas, leaving other communities underserved and in need of upgrades.

We believe every patient deserves equal access to quality care, regardless of where they live. Join us in raising awareness and advocating for a fair and transparent healthcare system. Share your story and help us bring attention to this important issue(link in bio)
