The California AHEC Program, has partnered with The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), brings together community and academic interests to improve access to health care and decrease health disparities for all Californians. Nearly 13,000 health care professionals participated in 33,000 hours of continuing education activities including distance and in person didactic prog
rams on disease prevention, mental health, disaster preparedness; professional association and health related conferences; seminars on quality improvement, electronic health records and patient centered care.
1,500 health professions students and residents participated in community based rotations and experiences in underserved areas of the state
250 students and residents participated in programs providing health information to underserved populations in local communities
15,000 youth and displaced workers participated in educational experiences including tutoring, job shadowing, field trips, mentoring, classroom and school presentations, internships and peer counseling.
