San Joaquin Literary Association (SJLA)

San Joaquin Literary Association (SJLA) The San Joaquin Literary Association is an organization out of California State University, Fresno.

SJLA promotes literary events throughout the community by bringing authors to Fresno and hosting readings as well as workshops both on and off campus. SJLA is happy to share community literary events with our followers.

Hello Everyone,
SJLA is disheartened to announce that the Rough Drafts Reading which was originally scheduled for this Friday at 7 PM has been postponed, with the rescheduled date to be announced soon.

After speaking with the participants, other MFA students, and SJLA members, we have decided this is the best decision considering the ongoing weight of the pandemic. The purpose of the Rough Drafts Reading is to welcome and celebrate first year students and the creativity they bring to our community. And we'd like to do that in a way that doesn't add unnecessary stress to their lives. Thank you for understanding.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our 11th annual Rough Drafts tonight! We had an amazing turn out, bigger than we expected, and we are so proud of the readers who were generous enough to share their work with us. We can’t wait to see what incredible art they bring next!

We are open for new members to join us, information to come soon and we are currently planning our annual Fall reading of First Year MFA students in Fiction, Creative NonFiction, and Poetry called Rough Drafts. This is an opportunity to read a few minutes of your work to introduce yourself to the MFA and Fresno community as a writer, student, and individual, and allows us to welcome you.
