White Cane Day with Valley Center for the Blind is TOMORROW, Saturday, October 17! Join us for a fun-filled community walk, great company, and a chance to celebrate the white cane as a symbol of independence. 🌟
Come meet new friends, bring your family, and help us raise awareness for the blind and visually impaired community. Everyone is welcome!

Today we celebrate the independence, confidence, and mobility that the white cane represents for people who are blind or visually impaired.

A white cane is more than a mobility tool it can be a symbol of freedom, self-determination, and the ability to navigate the world on one’s own terms.

Let’s celebrate the achievements of people who are blind and visually impaired, promote accessibility and inclusion, and help create communities where everyone can move through the world safely and independently.

Kids and teens who are blind or have low vision and families, come join us for arts and crafts and trick-or-treating at VCB. Costumes encouraged! 🎨

A huge THANK YOU to the amazing members of Delta Gamma Sorority for volunteering at Valley Center for the Blind’s Dining in the Dark! 💙

Our event was a huge success, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible volunteers who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to help make the evening special. From helping behind the scenes to making sure our guests had a great experience, your support made a difference!

We truly appreciate Delta Gamma for showing up and supporting VCB’s mission to support, train, and employ people who are blind or have low vision. Thank you for being part of such a memorable night!

Happy World Sight Day from VCB!
Today is a great day to celebrate people who are blind or have low vision and to share a friendly reminder about how we can all be more respectful and helpful.
If you see someone using a white cane, please don’t grab their arm or move their cane. A white cane is an important tool that helps a person navigate their surroundings independently.
If you think someone may need assistance, simply ask:

“Can I help you with anything?”

Then let them tell you what they need. Sometimes they may need help, and sometimes they may not and that’s okay!
At Valley Center for the Blind, we support, train and employ people who are blind or have low vision. Our services help people build independence, learn new skills, prepare for employment and confidently navigate everyday life.

Vision loss doesn’t mean giving up independence and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
