During Pride Month, we celebrate LGBTQ+ communities and uplift their stories. It is also a time to recognize ongoing health inequities. LGBTQ+ communities in the U.S. face significantly higher smoking rates than heterosexual adults, driven in part by decades of targeted to***co marketing that has contributed to ongoing health disparities.

And while AANHPI communities are often grouped together, the reality is more complex. Overall rates may appear lower, but some groups, especially Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders, experience much higher smoking rates. These disparities are not accidental. Targeted to***co advertising and outreach have played a role here too.

The takeaway? One size fits all data hides real stories. When we break it down, we see where support, resources, and prevention efforts are truly needed.
