Owner-training assistance dogs is growing in popularity among the disability community since many disabilities are unique and few can find programs willing to cater to every individual need or some cannot wait years on a waiting list for the assistance they need now. This group is here to help owner trainers by giving us a place to network with each other locally, organize group outings, share tra
ining tips, experiences, service dog/ disability related information and to overall mimic the support and training opportunities a service dog program has that many owner trainers do not, to help us better train our dogs. This group also offers a sense of security for handlers who have difficulty going out in public for disability related or personal reasons or for those who are unsure about training their first service dog. This group is open to owners already training their own service dog, people interested in getting started training their first service dog, or even people who have no disability but are interested in the service dog community or who have hopes to become a puppy raiser for the many near by organizations. We are non-discriminatory and treat each other with respect and dignity, regardless of disability, age, s*x, s*xual orientation, training experience, or personal opinion. So if you are interested in this group or feel we may be able to help someone you know, please feel free to "like" our page and share with your friends.
