The Virginia Commonwealth University TBI Model System (VCU TBIMS) team would like to share that the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline network has updated their phone number and have new opportunities for you to volunteer and support others.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline launched nationally on July 16th — anyone in the United States who is suicidal or experiencing a mental health crisis can call or text this three-digit number, and get connected to a trained mental health professional. This is a hotline that offers free and confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, connecting callers with trained counselors who are part of the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline network.

The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.

Answer the call! These centers are looking to bring on new volunteers and paid employees. You will receive training, so if you are a caring person who wants to help those in crisis, apply today.
