Central Valley ASSP American Society of Safety Engineers The American Society of Safety Engineers celebrates its 100th Anniversary in 2011.

Founded in 1911 as the United Association of Casualty Inspectors, the Society was formed in the wake of tragic events such as the March 1911, Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in New York City where 146 young girls and women lost their lives in a workplace tragedy that drew the attention to the need for workplace safeguards and regulations. Our meeting attendance was small this month, but it turned out to be one of the best meetings! We were able to have an interactive conversation on how we have influenced safety culture in our companies.

Most importantly, we got the opportunity to speak to a Fresno State intern about her questions and concerns as she enters the field. This was a great reminder of why the ASSP is such an amazing organization ♥

Our Story

Welcome to the page of the Central Valley Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals. Our chapter is based in Fresno, California and serves the needs of its members in Fresno – Madera – Tulare – Merced – Kings and Mariposa Counties.

The Central Valley Chapter is Chapter #52 of the 150 chapters within the ASSP and was established on June 12, 1981.

As an ASSP member, you will join a community of dedicated members who lead, manage, supervise, research and consult on safety around the world.
