The people of Fresno won again. 💪

This week, the California Court of Appeal ruled unanimously that the City of Fresno alone must pay the legal fees from the years-long fight to uphold Measure P. The court also rejected the City’s attempt to pay nothing.

This is our third win in court for Fresno voters on this issue. In 2018, a majority of you said yes to more and better parks. It should never have taken nearly eight years for that vote to be respected.

Now it’s time to focus on the parks. Fresno ranks 86th out of the 100 largest U.S. cities on ParkScore. We look forward to the City putting its full attention on bringing our parks up to quality standards, and we’ll be putting ours on how Measure P dollars are being spent.

This is your reminder that CEMEX wants to blast a 600-foot-deep crater just steps from the San Joaquin River.

For the next 100 years.

Next week, a revised proposal goes back before the Fresno County Planning Commission. A 600-foot pit is the depth of a 60-story skyscraper dropped straight into our riverbank, right next to Lost Lake Park and decades of river restoration.

Hard-rock explosive blasting on our river means:
💥 Serious threats to our groundwater aquifers and river hydrology
💥 Toxic crystalline silica dust and diesel emissions in a valley already battling the worst air pollution in the country
💥 Decades of noise, tremors, and heavy industrial hauling through our community

The river belongs to all of us. This hearing is one of our last opportunities to make our voices heard.

Join us at next week’s Planning Commission hearing or submit a written public comment before the hearing deadline.

Residents from West Fresno County came together Monday evening at Rojas Pierce Park to discuss the massive Valley Clean Infrastructure Plan (VCIP), a proposed 136,000-acre renewable energy and transmission project set to reshape our rural landscape.

While the project promises clean energy, our communities are speaking up about the local impacts:
• Long-term job security for farmworkers
• Fire safety and emergency preparedness
• Energy affordability for local residents
• Protections against dust, noise, and Valley Fever during decades of construction

We are asking Westlands Water District to ensure our rural and unincorporated communities have a voice in the Community Benefits Agreement (CBA). A clean energy transition will succeed only if the communities hosting it are protected, heard, and invested in.
