Did you know? Our Artistic Director, Thomas Loewenheim is a real life superhero. For 20 years he has led the Youth Orchestras of Fresno with epic performances, encouraging practices and has mentored countless students. He has also played a lot of Mahler.

He has a passion for great music and the way music can change lives and the world. He shows up to rehearsals with a firm belief that young musicians are capable of great things, and he scatters funny catchphrases all over the place. We are so grateful to have him. Thank you for 20 years Dr Loewenheim!

✨FOOSA Festival applications open October 26! ✨We are so excited about the upcoming Fresno Summer Orchestra Festival WITH Voice Academy at Fresno State University!

Sing and play with world class faculty, see what the Bassoons are up to, enjoy chamber music coaching, lessons, orchestral performances at world class venues and MAHLER 3! Three programs for orchestra, one for voice, a million reasons to make FOOSA Magic happen!

Our Artistic Director Thomas Loewenheim believes in the potential of every musician, and he encourages you to keep practicing. Sometimes it’s hard, but shoot for 48 hours a day and whatever you do? Don’t. Get. Sick!

The Youth Orchestras of Fresno is a Central Valley Nonprofit that strives to bring music education to the youth in our community, break down any obstacles that could prevent a musician from participating and provide excellent orchestral performances at reduced to no cost. Cello Fest 2026 is coming soon. This FREE festival on November 12-14 at Fresno State School of Music features amazing guest artist Gary Hoffman as well as other amazing faculty. Artistic Director Emilio Colón is pairing up with Artistic Director Thomas Loewenheim to bring all things cello to Fresno. FOOSA is coming! June 13-27, 2027

Auditions open October 26.
FOOSA is a two-week summer intensive is designed for musicians who are willing to dedicate themselves to a demanding daily schedule.

The program includes orchestra rehearsals, daily lessons, master classes, individual practice, a professional orchestral recording session, and numerous performance opportunities, including a concerto competition. new this year: Vocal Academy! Singers will be performing Mahler 3 with the FOOSA Philharmonic.

We offer three programs, to accommodate various playing levels. See foosamusic.org for updates and details.

The Youth Orchestras of Fresno is a Central Valley nonprofit that works to bring high level music education to the youth of the valley. We want to make music accessible to all, through scholarships and financial aid as well as free tickets to our concerts. We believe that music is for everyone! Partner with us in our exciting work by attending a concert, auditioning as a student musician, donating to our scholarship fund, or volunteering. The possibilities to make a difference are huge.
We are grateful for the parent and community support that has carried us through 77 years of music!
