📣 Community Spotlight! 🚨

Thanks to a collaboration between the Knights of Columbus, Charities for Cental California Veterans Inc. & our Chapter, over 50 wheelchairs were donated to the Fresno VA Hospital!

Many thanks to the KofC for your support. To Valley Veterans Thrift for help with transport. To Mary Golden and the team at CDCE for their assistance. And of course, past Chapter Commander and current SEC Vince Marquez for handling logistics, putting this all together!

This morning, Commander Cantu, Sr Vice Marquez, & Chapter member Goodreau attended the burial service for U.S. Army Air Forces Sgt. Adolph P. Aguirre in Exeter, California.

Sgt. Aguirre was just 21 years old when his B-24 Liberator was shot down during a mission over Italy on August 16, 1943. For more than 80 years, he remained missing. His remains were finally identified earlier this year, allowing him to return home to Exeter and, today, be laid to rest beside his mother.

There was something especially meaningful about welcoming Sgt. Aguirre home today, on National POW/MIA Recognition Day. The words “You Are Not Forgotten” carried a little more weight this morning.

After more than eight decades, an American hero is finally home.

Welcome home, Sgt. Aguirre. May you rest in peace. 🇺🇸

Our very own George Steese was featured on a special edition of Vets Talk About It, the official video podcast of DAV California. A member of our Chapter, George was the National Commander of DAV in 2001. He shares his experience of 9/11 and after here today.
