On October 14, we are an open house Community Coffee date with City Without Orphans.

Come meet our team, hear a little about what is happening at CWO, and see how our community is surrounding foster, kinship, and adoptive families and youth in transition.

At City Without Orphans, we believe families and young people should not have to navigate foster care, kinship care, adoption, or the transition into adulthood alone.

Our work looks different from day to day. Sometimes it is a meal around a table. Sometimes it is education for a caregiver, clothes for a young person, a conversation with a mom who needs community, or practical support at exactly the right time.

But underneath all of it is the same belief: people need people.

We are grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up.

None of what we do happens solo. This month alone, we’re leaning on church groups joining us in our kitchen, volunteers giving up their evenings, church partners caring for foster & adoptive parents, and a school district willing to build something new alongside us.

That’s what one city, surrounding families actually looks like in practice: a lot of ordinary people deciding to show up. If your church, business, or community group wants in, we’d love to talk about what that could look like!

A specific need this month: our Study Corner and drop-in space run on community donations of snacks, school supplies, and everyday basics, and September’s stock is running low. A gift of any size helps restock those shelves before the month is out. If you’d rather give your time than your money, we’ve got a volunteer ask up on our page too. Either way, thank you for being part of how this city surrounds its families.

The Closet is more than a place to find clothing. It is a place where young adults and families impacted by foster care or family instability can find practical support, dignity, and the comfort of knowing their community cares.

Every donated item and every financial gift helps us keep The Closet stocked with clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and everyday essentials for families who need them.

You can help us continue making this resource available. Donate, give, volunteer, or share this post with someone who may want to support The Closet.

Donors could be small groups, businesses, friend groups, families, or any community of people that would like to make a tangible difference!

Together, we can make sure every family who walks through our doors feels seen, supported, and welcomed.

It’s simple: a shared meal, good company, and a seat that’s already saved for every young adult who walks in.
