Check out this highlight on the Orange County Workforce Housing Development!
Across the SWIDC service territory, several READI projects are focused on the goal of growing our region's population and workforce. One project focused on this goal is the Klondike subdivision, which takes us to Orange County for today's READI highlight!
The Klondike subdivision will, upon completion, be home to 27 single-family homes that will support the Orange County and French Lick communities. This public-private partnership leverages support from the French Lick Resort, the Town of French Lick, the French Lick Redevelopment Commission, and the Orange County Economic Development Partnership, which are collectively supporting this housing development to serve the community.
Specific READI-funded items include the development and construction of essential infrastructure, including roadways, sidewalks, drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater systems, all of which enabled the successful construction of the subdivision's first homes, which opened in late 2025. These homes will serve Orange County residents and allow for community growth of new housing stock and fill a known gap in the area.
Additionally, this community-driven investment supports owner-occupied housing and will support the community's workforce and contribute to the continued growth and vitality of French Lick and Orange County.
This project, like many others across the SWIDC service territory, will help power up our region while adding to the long-term economic resilience of Southwest Indiana and making Indiana READI for the future. Indiana Economic Development Corporation
