Our senior tennis group has had a great summer. We added several new players this year and have enjoyed getting to know them. We have several people who come just a few weeks each summer - one is long-time summer visitor, Bert Casey. Bert’s season with us ended Wednesday, so the group gathered together for a potluck and a competitive Bean Bag Olympics!

Did I say competitive? That describes our group. In spite of rainy weather, the group willingly crammed together in our garage to compete at 14 different stations! It was hilarious to watch them compete - there were a few errant bean bags that hit people rather than targets - but all in good fun!

The champion team consisted of Kristin Krim and Bill Ashcroft. Good job, all!!!

Until next year, Bert.

What do retired seniors do with their time - this group plays tennis three days a week. Wonderful people and some good competition. We welcome newbies anytime.

Come on out - MWF - at 9 a.m. at Fremont Middle School courts.

Picture of today’s group - 16 out today. Then we gathered at the Purdys’ for a bag omelette brunch with former Fremonters (and senior tennis group players), Dale and Christy Brokaw who now live in Arizona. So fun to get a chance to visit with them.

It’s that time of year - TENNIS TIME! We have a great, fun group of seniors who play whenever the weather allows - from March through December. Our ‘normal’ playing time is at 9 a.m. at the Middle School courts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. But the time will vary in late fall and early spring, so get on our text group to keep up with change of times.

History of this group: It was started well over 50 years ago with a lot of Ge**er executives and their wives getting together to enjoy some relaxing time playing tennis - they invited others to join them - the group is now being carried on in their name. We have a nice memorial bench at the courts in memory of most of them who have passed away.

This post is an introduction to the current, active, senior players - hope you know some of them and will think about joining us this summer. Make your own comments below any of the senior pictures you recognize.

I need pictures of a few more so will add them when they get back to the courts. (Dottie, Jill, Christy, Bob V, Bill A, Susan C, and Jack H). One note for those who are thinking they’d like to join us - we love having newbies - we have lots of replacement joints amongst us, a few other health issues too, but nothing better than getting out and giving our best each day. Come on out and give it a try.

Senior tennis time - a break in the weather. With all the rain, we had a visitor leave his/her home and come watch us play. Nice day to get out. Thinking of those who have been adversely affected by all our storms lately. Prayers for safety and help where needed.
