BAY AREA CREATIVE DANCE ACADEMY (BACDA) is a volunteer organization created by its artistic director Dalia Sen to foster the love of dance. Well known in the arena of performing arts, Dalia continues to learn various dance forms from Indian and international Gurus. This exposure leaves its mark on Dalia's vision and unique compositions, which blend traditional Indian dances with contemporary dance
forms. Her credits include art direction and choreography of NABC 2009, 2012, and 2017, and Enacte production Chitra. As a past cultural director of Bay Area Prabasi, she has organized many productions for them. Kalamahotsav 2014 and 2015, in collaboration with the Counsel General of India, added another feather to her cap. Her capable direction of the opening ceremony for Indian Prime Minister Honourable Shri Narendra Modi’s Bay Area visit in 2015, spoke volumes of her immense capability and made her a household name in the Indian diaspora. With the opening and closing ceremonies of NABC 2017, she delivered a hugely successful production with stalwarts of the Indian music and dance fraternity, along with local talent of the Bay Area and other states of USA. BACDA’s production in 2018, ‘Raabdta’ enthralled the audience and received rave reviews from all quarters. In 2019, BACDA collaborated with Bongomela in Phoenix, Arizona, to present a home production which was again a resounding success and left the audience wanting for more. In 2020 when the world was waging a war with a pandemic and everyone was struggling to look at the brighter side of life, BACDA came up with a completely new mode of presentation during the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja. Along with dance, drama and recitation, BACDA’s first ever online production, ‘Bodhayon’, was a strory about reawakening of our inner soul and our regards to Mother Earth.
