Photos from last week's Ohio Economic Development Association Annual Summit in Dayton! Beth Hannam and Kyleigh Lash represented SCEDC alongside a strong showing from Northwest Ohio.

Every session and keynote was full of great content, and we’re grateful to the OEDA team for once again delivering one of the year’s best events for economic developers and the largest state economic development summit in the nation!

A big congratulations to Chase Eikenbary, Vice President of Project Management at Regional Growth Partnership Northwest Ohio, on being named Economic Developer of the Year. A truly deserved award for a person that always goes above and beyond at what she does. The numbers don't lie! Thank you for all you do for NW Ohio and Sandusky County.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s summit. Thanks for a great event, OEDA!

It was another fantastic day for our 13th Annual THINK Manufacturing Showcase!

This year, we hosted nearly 800 Sandusky County 9th graders to showcase the critical skills needed in manufacturing. This event could not be possible without our 13 participating employers, including:
- Amcor, Fremont
- BMG
- Crescent Manufacturing
- Crown Battery
- Green Bay Packaging - Fremont Division
- Kraft Heinz
- Martin Marietta
- Motion Controls Robotics, Inc.
- Standard Technologies
- Style Crest
- Terra State Community College
- Unique Fabrications
- Whirlpool

We’re also grateful to all the volunteers from local businesses and our Sandusky County class who helped guide students throughout the event. This showcase wouldn’t be possible without you! And thank you to the Fremont Rec Center for providing a great place to bring everyone together.

This event is a great way to give students a closer look at the career opportunities right here in Sandusky County.

We are in need of volunteers for the 12th Annual THINK Manufacturing Career Showcase!

The 12th Annual THINK Manufacturing Career Showcase is coming to the Fremont Rec Center on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and nearly 900 Sandusky County ninth-grade students will be taking part.

Volunteers will guide groups of 8–10 students from their buses to each station, help them stay engaged, and keep the day moving smoothly. You will not be responsible for teaching the hands-on activities—local manufacturing partners will lead the six skill stations.

Each volunteer will support one group during a session. Breakfast and lunch will be provided!

Help us introduce local students to exciting manufacturing careers and the opportunities available right here in Sandusky County.

On Tuesday, SCEDC kicked off the first Student Career Camp of the school year with a closer look at careers in marketing, and how marketing skills can be applied in nearly every industry.

Students from Bellevue High School, Fremont City Schools, Gibsonburg, and St. Joe Bishop Hoffman Catholic School heard from marketing professionals across Sandusky County:
- Staci Zimmerman, Root's Poultry
- Sara Shoemaker, Croghan Colonial Bank
- Alex Boroff, Great Lakes Community Action Partnership
- Linda Thiel, Community Health Services
- Marie Gluth, Crown Battery

During the panel discussion, our guests shared their career journeys, the many ways marketing supports their organizations, and advice for students considering this exciting field.

A special thank-you to our panelists for investing their time and knowledge in local students, and to the participating schools for helping make this event possible!

We’re excited to continue connecting students with career opportunities right here in Sandusky County. Stay tuned for next month’s Career Camp!

Today, manufacturing remains a vital part of Sandusky County’s economy, supporting local jobs, families and a strong future. Enjoy your holiday!
