On behalf of the Afghan Coalition, Afghan Women’s Association International, International Coalition of Afghan Women, and the Afghan community in the Bay Area, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Senator Aisha Wahab on her historic achievement in the August 18 election.
We are deeply proud to see Senator Wahab continue her commitment to public service and to represent our community. This is a historic moment for the Afghan American community and other communities in the Bay Area’s, and an important milestone after nearly fifty years of building our lives and contributing to this great nation.
Senator Wahab’s achievement also demonstrates the strength, determination, and leadership of Afghan women. It sends a powerful message to our daughters and younger generations: they, too, can lead, serve, and help shape the future of their communities and their country.
As Afghan Americans, we are proud and grateful that our next generation is stepping forward to participate in our democracy, serve their communities, and contribute to making this nation an even better place for everyone.
