52 Weeks of Diapers - A Fremont Area Diaper Bank
According to national statistics, 1 in 3 families currently struggle to provide an adequate number of fresh diapers for their infant or toddler. Over the past year, this has held true as the growing diaper crisis became more and more evident within the families of Fremont and the surrounding areas. According to these national statistics and Fremontās 0-5 population as published in the most recent Community Well-Being Data Report released by United Way, there could be over 600 Fremont children living in a household that cannot provide an adequate supply of fresh diapers.
A Fremont Community Diaper Drive Committee has been formed by a collaborative of local family-serving agencies: United Way, Sixpence, Lutheran Family Services, Kiwanis and Good Neighbor Community Health Center, with the purpose of addressing the community's current diaper need crisis. The committee has initiated a "52 Weeks of Diapers: Helping Little Behinds Get a Little Aheadā Eventāa year-long community diaper drive to support on-going access to diapers for area families in need. Our participation will help these families who are unable to provide an adequate monthly supply of fresh diapers for their children. Our efforts in this diaper drive will go a long way to ensure that these babies get a healthier start in life...but we need EVERYONEāS help to make this possible! In order to effectively serve the entire need in the community, well over 1 million diapers must be collected next year.
