Leadership Sandusky County We are committed to developing leaders who will improve the quality of life in Sandusky County.

Leadership Sandusky County (LSC), founded in 1991, has aided in the development of almost 400 community leaders. These leaders have, in turn, affected change throughout Sandusky County by volunteering their time and efforts to hundreds of community-based organizations, and serving in key roles on many non-profit and for profit boards around the county. Leadership Sandusky County is a 501(c)3 organization; charitable contributions are tax-deductible.

The Class of 2027 hit the road for LSC’s second session: our annual county-wide bus tour!

Led by Dave Thornbury, Marketing Director for the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau, participants explored community highlights and the people and organizations making a difference across Sandusky County.

A few stops along the way:
✈️ At the Sandusky County Regional Airport, we learned about its economic impact and met a Mercy Health Life Flight crew. ProMedica also operates a Life Flight crew at the airport.
🍯 At Cherry City Honey Farms and Apiary, we explored “The Land of Milk & Honey,” celebrating America 250 and the history of beekeeping in America and Ohio. Participants also sampled honey and shopped at the store.
🏛️ At the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums, we enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Hayes Home.
🐢 At Wilson Nature Center, Deb and her team shared the Sandusky County Park District’s programs, and gave us a chance to watch them feed the turtles and snake!
🕊️ We wrapped up at Gibsonburg,Ohio’s 9/11 Public Safety Service Memorial, where Amanda Sears shared the story behind the memorial and the World Trade Center artifact at its center.

Thank you, Dave, for guiding the tour and bringing Sandusky County’s rich history to life. And thank you to all our gracious hosts for sharing the wonderful work happening in our communities. These experiences help LSC participants build connections and see the many strengths of our county.

Our Leadership Sandusky County Class of 2027 showed up to support Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation! Seven class members volunteered at SCEDC’s Annual THINK Manufacturing Career Showcase, helping ninth-grade students navigate the event and guiding their groups through each of the hands-on skill stations.

The showcase highlights skills that are critical to the manufacturing industry and gives students a chance to see the career opportunities available right here in Sandusky County. We’re proud of our class members for giving their time and helping make this experience possible for local students.

We’re excited to welcome the Leadership Sandusky County Class of 2027!

The cohort gathered for its first session on September 9, beginning with an orientation focused on program expectations and the experiences they’ll share throughout the year.

The afternoon was all about building connections. Participants got to know one another through Speed Networking before taking on team challenges, and competing for well-deserved bragging rights!

This year’s cohort includes 23 students representing 16 organizations throughout Sandusky County. We’re looking forward to learning, growing and working alongside each of them throughout the year!

If you've been thinking about Leadership Sandusky County, now is the time to hit "submit." This 9-month program helps you grow as a leader, build a new network of community-minded professionals, and get an inside look at the people, places, and industries that make Sandusky County a great place to live, work, and play.

Applications for the Leadership Sandusky County Class of 2027 are officially OPEN, but only until July 31!

If you’ve been thinking about developing your leadership skills, building connections across Sandusky County, or sending a rising leader from your organization, now is the time to apply. The 9‑month program includes monthly full‑day sessions, community tours, and practical leadership training you can apply right away.

Tuition is $850 per participant, with a discounted rate of $725 for SCEDC investors.

Spots are limited, and once the deadline passes, the next chance won’t be until next year. Don’t wait.

Yesterday was a big day for Leadership Sandusky County’s Class of 2026. We wrapped up our final class session in the morning by focusing on Small Business & Entrepreneurship in Sandusky County, hearing from an incredible lineup of local leaders: Miranda Hoffman (Small Business Development Center at Terra State Community College), Kristie Bilger (Downtown Fremont Inc.), Michael & Natalie Hasselbach (Outpour Coffee), and entrepreneur and Fremont Speedway promoter, Rich Farmer. Their insights showcased the passion, risk-taking, and collaboration that fuel our local economy and downtowns.

That afternoon, we celebrated the graduation of 18 outstanding leaders who shared reflections on their year-long journey: how they’ve grown in confidence and leadership, and how they’re already applying new skills like communication, emotional intelligence, and time management in their day-to-day roles. They also spoke about all they’ve discovered in Sandusky County, from hidden local businesses and a strong manufacturing base to our rich history and the many organizations working together to strengthen our community.

A huge thank you to the employers who sponsored these participants. Your investment in their development is an investment in the future of Sandusky County. This class is especially meaningful as the first to graduate under the management of the Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation, and it has been a true privilege getting to know each member of this cohort.

🎓 GRADUATION DAY! Meet the Final 5 Leaders of Our Class of 2026!

Today marks a incredible milestone as our Leadership Sandusky Class of 2026 graduates! We're so proud to spotlight our final five amazing leaders who have grown, connected, and inspired throughout this transformative journey.

From real estate to healthcare, from higher education to manufacturing, these leaders represent the diverse talent and passion that makes Sandusky County strong. They've discovered new businesses in their own backyard, built lasting connections, and developed the self-awareness and skills that will drive positive change in our community.

Each of these graduates brings unique perspectives and experiences, but they all share a common commitment: to lead with purpose, grow continuously, and strengthen the fabric of our community.
