Bharati Tamil Sangam is a non-profit, non-political, non-partisan, community organization following Hindu Dharmic traditions, culture and heritage for world-wide Tamils, serving the community in Bay area, California. Since 2006, Bharati Tamil Sangam has been serving the bay area communities. Our mission is to educate and seed the young generation of global tamils with India’s richest cultural heri
tage, history, spirituality, Tamil arts and literature, along with the richness of our classical language, that proudly interconnects all of us. BATS has been extensively involved in a number of community programs, fundraisers to help & support the people in need especially during emergency situations like the historic Utharkand floods, Nepal Earthquake, Chennai floods. In April 2020, we were right in the midst of this worldwide pandemic COVID19 that affected billions, crippling world economy, infecting millions and taking hundreds and thousands of lives. Our frontline workers have been working 24/7 risking their lives to protect all of us, but were in serious shortage of protective gears. BATS has taken up a task to make 2000 secondary masks on urgent basis. More than 30 volunteers came forward and worked tirelessly for over a month adhering to all social distancing guidelines. We delivered 2300 secondary masks handmade by our volunteers to various institutions including hospitals, police and assisted living communities. Bharati Tamil Sangam holds in high regard the rich cultural heritage of India and respects Tamil as the ancient integral part of this rich heritage; Bharati Tamil Sangam regards these as supreme factors proudly interconnecting Tamils all over the world. In the age of Globalization, it is necessary for the Tamil youth to be knowledgeable and proud about their ancestral culture, spiritualism and history. Bharati Tamil Sangam views these as indispensable and key to the healthy existence, growth and future of the Tamil Youth community. Bharati Tamil Sangam will implement programs to inculcate art, literature, Hindu Spirituality and cultural aspects in the minds of the Tamil Youth- especially the children. Bharati Tamil Sangam will provide all -from children to adults- a platform to showcase and highlight their special and creative talents including Prose, Music, Drama and Dance. In line with the Greatest Poet Mahakavi Bharati’s words of wisdom, “Public Service is Yoga”, BATS will continue to actively participate and undertake voluntary social service activities and will work very closely with like -minded organizations like Cancer Institute Foundation, on a number of community service programs.
