Fremont Firefighters Local 1689 would like to thank Republic Services for supporting this year’s golf tournament as a sponsor. Republic Services has been a longstanding provider of sustainable recycling and waste management and proudly services all of our firehouses in Fremont. Fremont Firefighters Local 1689 would like to thank our sponsor, Northern California Rescue Training NCRT, for supporting our upcoming golf tournament.

Anthony K. Ganzler’s name was added to the California Firefighters Memorial in Sacramento’s Historic Capitol Park earlier today. Local 1689 Honor Guard members were present, as well as other members, to witness California Fire Foundation’s incredibly moving ceremony. We miss Ganzler more than we can put into words, and we pay tribute to his memory by remembering and celebrating him in some small way every day. We encourage everyone to visit the memorial one day when they’re able to.

We’re just 17 days away from the Fremont Firefighters Local 1689 Pancake Breakfast. Join us Saturday, October 17th, from 7:00 AM–12:00 PM at Fire Station 2, located at 37299 Niles Boulevard.

Come enjoy a morning of good food, great company, and community as we bring back this special tradition. This year we’ll also have face painting from 8:30–10:30 AM. We look forward to seeing you there.

Fremont Firefighters Local 1689 would like to congratulate Captain Dan O’Brien on his new position as a lateral Captain with MidStar Fire District in Idaho. Over the past 12 years, Dan has been passionate, dedicated, and his commitment to the fire service shows in everything he does. He is always looking for ways to improve, constantly training, sharing new ideas, and finding opportunities to help our members grow. His love for the job and dedication have made a lasting impact on our membership, and we are grateful for the time we’ve had working alongside him.
Dan will be missed for his personality, camaraderie, and, of course, his one-of-a-kind laugh that you could always pick out from across the firehouse. We wish you and your family nothing but the best as you begin this new chapter.
