The Swinging 21ers will not be dancing on Tuesday, July 4th to allow all the members to watch their pets, their houses and the fireworks. Have a safe and happy 4th!

Where has 2022 gone? It's December already and scheduled for next week - Dec 14 - will be our annual Christmas potluck/gift exchange. This will be our last meeting of the year so that our members will have more time for travel (safely, please!) and get-togethers with family and friends. Our regular Tuesday night dances will resume January 3, 2023.

And just like that: Back in masks again. We're still dancing but, due to county and Elks Lodge requirements, all dancers - vaccinated or not - need to be masked. Here's hoping this surge sputters out soon!

With some of our vacationing dancers returning, COVID restrictions loosening somewhat and a few new dancers we are actually seeing 2 squares here. It's been a rough few years!

We danced! September 14 was our post-COVID opening night and is was SOOOO good to be able to see, greet and dance with our friends once again.

We've decided that COVID is NOT going to win - again! We resume dancing at the Fremont Elks lodge on September 14 at 6:30, but cautiously - proof of vaccination (or a current negative COVID test) will be checked at the door and, for the time being, masks will be required. We've been a goody gobbling club for a long time, but again: caution. The food table is bare and you'll need to bring your own labeled water!

And.. The COVID bug bites again! Due to the spread of the Delta version, all indoor activities again require masks and to stay on the safe side we here at 21ers have once more postponed opening.

We will NOT be dancing on August 3rd, but hope to resume soon; watch this space for news!

FINALLY! We're opening for our regularly scheduled Tuesday night dances on August 3! It has been a VERY long dry spell - and it's high time to get back on the floor, blow the dust off of our house-bound wits and DANCE! Come meet our new caller, Rich Reel as he takes up the mic at 6:30. We will be dancing until at least to 8:30, but if there are those who wish to we can continue to 9:30.

There are/will be a few COVID era residuals: Label your cups & coolers with your name, don't share food or drinks and if you wish to wear a mask - feel free to do so.

Who would have thought it! Here we are after a FULL YEAR of canceled club dances and other dance events and - in spite of a bit of light due the the COVID vaccines - still no end date in sight. Sigh. Before we can get back to dancing the lockdown on venues has to let up and (square dance being what it is) some relief from social distancing must come to pass. In the case of the 21ers, the Elks lodge where we dance is still closed to indoor activities (us, among others) and the activity's insurers aren't covering meetings until we can once again shake hands. As a club, we are meeting via zoom monthly to keep in touch and each such meeting has included a video presentation of some sort (We've seen music, mixed drinks, and square dancing farm tractors - among others). Still, it's NOT the dancing we love and it will be wonderful when we can get back into real, friendly, active, interactive squares. Stay healthy and hopeful, my friends!

As you may already have guessed we're still not dancing. Darn. With most of California back to purple (high risk / high COVID activity) things which were starting to open up are closing back down and our square dance club didn't even get to the "starting to open up" stage. We remain hopeful and are meeting monthly via zoom. Not the same though... Be careful, stay healthy, and enjoy (as much as you can) the upcoming holidays.

August: Gone. September: Half over. Covid-19: no end in sight. The Swinging 21ers are still without a meeting place and the area is still under restrictions on indoor meetings, let alone all the hand-to-hand contact implicit in square dance. We did get together on Zoom this month and after taking a few minutes greeting each other and catching up on what's new (not a lot!) we were treated to a presentation on the history of cocktails. I'm not sure how that relates to square dancing, but it WAS interesting. Still, we WILL get back to our beloved activity sometime! Until then, be careful and stay healthy!

Another month - gone - and the bad ol' COVID-19 bug is still very much with us. This is sort of a good news/bad news post; due to the Elks lodge currently limited to actual Elks members, limitations on the number of participants and restrictions on indoor events we have had to CANCEL our annual fundraising dance for the Elks Crippled Children's Project. Many thanks to those who have attended in the past and - hopefully - in future years!
The good news is that the club has decided that we need to get together in at least a virtual mode - so we will be holding Zoom meetings on the first and third Tuesdays so we can keep up with our member's doings.
Unfortunately, still no idea as to when we will be ably to resume actual dancing.
