Are you a student looking for volunteer hours? Here’s an opportunity to help support school lunches for children in India.

As an Akshaya Patra USA Youth Ambassador, you’ll work with a local chapter and a Youth Coordinator who will help you get started. With Diwali and Giving Tuesday coming up, you can launch your first fundraising page with their guidance.

The program is free to join for ages 8–25. Anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian’s consent. Once your application is approved, we’ll connect you with your chapter.

Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

Through the Akshaya Patra program in India, 2.35 million lunches are served every school day. Each one goes to a child whose future matters to an entire family. Mary's story shows what that future can look like.

No single program ends poverty. Our part begins with a clear belief: no child should be deprived of education because of hunger.

October 16 is World Food Day, marking the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1945. This year's theme is "Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow."

Feeding children at scale is an operations problem as much as a food problem. Akshaya Patra runs large central kitchens that cook for thousands of children every morning, so a hot lunch can reach more than 25,000 schools across India at just pennies a meal.

A hot lunch at school helps children come to class and keep learning. It's one of the simplest ways to invest in tomorrow.

Dallas–Fort Worth, join us for an evening of great stories and live music.

The Akshaya Patra USA Dallas–Fort Worth Gala welcomes Tejal Rao, Chief Restaurant Critic at The New York Times, and Atlantic Odyssey Solo Atlantic Row, the first Indian-origin woman to row solo across the Atlantic, as our speakers. Award-winning writer Mallika Rao will serve as emcee, with a musical performance by vocalist and composer Aditya Rao.

It was a pleasure to spend the evening with you, Tri-State.

On October 3, our community gathered in East Rutherford for the Akshaya Patra USA Tri-State Gala. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent, joined us as keynote speaker.

We were glad to have our Vice Chairman Dr. Rachana Kulkarni and Board Member Roopa Makhija with us, alongside Rahul Merchant, Rakesh Kamdar of our National Advisory Board. Shridhar Venkat, CEO of The Akshaya Patra Foundation in India, joined us as well.

Thank you to our Tri-State chapter team and volunteers for bringing everyone together. And to every guest and contributor, we’re grateful for your generosity and your support for school lunches for children in India.

Education works like that. What a girl learns today can keep paying forward through everyone she looks after later. That's the long view our supporters share when they help fund school lunches through the Akshaya Patra program in India.

This year, International Day of the Girl Child calls on the world to invest in girls. For us, that investment is a school lunch, served every school day.

We're grateful to everyone standing behind our beneficiaries. There are many more girls we want to reach, in more classrooms across India, and your support is how we get there.

At a candlelit concert, the musicians perform up close, with candles lighting the space around them. Join us at UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum for an evening of live Bollywood melodies in this setting.
