From the Pastor:

In Luke 8, we read the account of Christ rebuking the wind and waves when the disciples were most fearful. Immediately peace came. All were amazed. It is one of the most incredible miracles Jesus performed in the entirety of scripture. It only solidified the disciples' faith and trust.

But before He brought peace in the storm, He did something most overlook or forget-He got in the boat with them. Before the trouble, before the fear, before the miracle, He was there. When they started the journey, He was there. In the storm-He was there. In the answer-He was there.

When trouble comes to us we can become overwhelmed, doubtful and fearful easily. But we must be reminded daily that we are never alone. The work He began in you He will continue. You aren't ever abandoned or alone. Every trial we suffer and every answer He provides should solidify our faith and trust In Him. Hold onto hope. He can change any situation at any time. Be blessed friends!

From the Pastor:

Discernment is a gift from the Lord given by the Holy Spirit to all born again believers. It must be awakened and applied in our lives so that we will not be deceived in these last days that we live in. Jesus said in Matthew that false prophets and false teachers would arise and deceive, if possible, even the elect. It's a scary thought.

Remember, not everyone with a platform is from God. Not everyone who preaches was called by God. Not every voice you hear is the voice of God. Read the word of God that you would know the truth. His truth sets you free. His word is a lamp and a light to our path. Pray and ask Holy Spirit to give you wisdom. Ask Him to lead you and keep you on the path of righteousness.

One of our only tools against deception is discernment. Don't forsake the gift. Nurture it. Grow it. Thank God for it. Use it. Be blessed

From the Pastor:

“As a dog returns to his own vomit, So a fool repeats his folly.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭26‬:‭11‬ ‭

Life is full of ups and downs, successes and failures. All can work for our good though. When we succeed, we make a note of what worked. When we fail, we should learn from the mistakes and failures in order to be transformed according to God's instructions. Application of these lessons is wisdom. Failure is foolishness.

So much of our suffering is caused by our own doing. We continually make bad choices, hang out with the same people, go to the same places, church hop, partake in the same habits and hobbies, go back into the same broken relationships, react without praying first, and then wonder why we get the same results over and over again. Results seldom change without a different input. We hold the key to new results through obedience to God's word.

We as Christians, are set apart. We are called to follow a different path. We have been given the gift of discernment by the Holy Spirit. We have to use it. Our minds must be renewed and our focus has to change. We must surrender to the voice of the Lord. Until we do so and learn to crucify the flesh, we will continue to suffer the consequences of a fool.

Pray. Read. Examine. Apply. God's blessings to you!

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬

If you want more of God, His influence, His power, and His blessing, James tells us there are a few things required.

1. Your effort. Draw near. Take the first step. Cry out. Seek the Lord with all your heart. When we seek we find.

2. Cleansing. Separate yourself from the things that defile you. If it doesn't please God, take no part in it.

3. Submission. Repent. Turn away from your sinful desires and turn to the Lord through obedience, prayer and faith.

God is faithful. He doesn't lie. His word never returns void. If He said He would draw near, He will do it. If He said He would be found when we seek Him, then it shall be so. If you want more of God, offer Him more of you!
