Freeport Student Garden The Freeport Student Garden uses gardening as a tool to teach Freeport youth job readiness skills. We are located behind Freeport Middle School. and Locust Ave.

You can purchase our produce at our Self-Service Farmstand or at the Stephenson County Farmers Market. We are located south of the intersection of Empire St. in Freeport, IL.

Our students are working hard planting squash and melons today. Much of this produce will go to local food pantries this season! With your help, we can ensure as much as possible is donated.

-A field wash station to streamline post-harvest processing.
-Expanded refrigeration to maintain produce quality and safety.
-Increased storage capacity to handle higher yields for weekly deliveries.

Congratulations to Madelyne for being our first graduate to complete the Plant Science Pathway at Freeport High School!

Madelyne took a number of agriculture science courses, worked in the Freeport Student Garden for four years, and served as the Freeport Student Garden Intern this year. During the 25-26 school year, Madelyne contributed over 360 hours of grant writing, garden planning, construction, equipment maintenance, and more. Her work leaves a lasting impact and legacy in our program.

She will be attending Highland Community College this fall to study Horticulture Science. Best of luck, Madelyne!!!
