Many hands make light work and if you can help, we can use your help getting to the finish line! A full press is on for the balance of May & June, weather permitting. Just show up at 505 River Rd. Topsham and sign a waiver form before you start.
We have wood to cut, split, and dry for next Winter. Hawkes Firewood brought us about 9 cords of odd pieces and shorts of solid hardwood. Gordie and Bruce made a dent in the pile while ‘Coot’ split the rounds 16” long. Much of it is seasoned already! Our goal is to have at least 100 cords seasoning by Labor Day. We will work thru June 30 (not Memorial Day) to clean up the wood piles and collect the wood identified…then we will take the Summer off (other than collecting wood), starting up again Wednesday Sept 9th and Saturday September 12, 2026.

Crooker Construction did an amazing job filling a wet spot that we now can use for logs storage. They even shared that they have wood at the quarry to deliver us! We are filled with warmth and gratitude for their continued support and generosity. A real partner!

We had a small but very good crew yesterday. We even had a reporter writing an article for a coastal magazine published this Fall.

Because of the sub zero weather, tomorrow morning is cancelled, however, the noontime meeting is still on, for the frequent volunteers. For those of you who can work today loading the bins for the towns and those who need wood for the weekend, can pick it up today.

We are a volunteer-run charity relying solely on donations of funds and hardwood firewood. We hope to distribute over 100 cords of seasoned firewood this winter. Your tax deductible donation will be used for operations like fuel, insurance, online services, and equipment like a conveyor and a grapple for the tractor. We hope to raise $15,000 this year to address those who are struggling with having to choose between eating, medicine, or heating
Won’t you generously help us serve many families who are struggling to survive this winter. One time or monthly donations can be made via Venmo or card or you can donate directly to us by check payable to Maine Woodbanks MCWB,po box 32, Freeport 04032.
