Preserving Long Island’s south shore bays and waterways through cleanups, education, and advocacy.

Operation SPLASH is a volunteer-based organization committed to improving the quality of Long Island's bays, waterways, and shores. SPLASH members actively carry out this mission through marine debris cleanups, advocacy efforts, and STEM-based education programs for schools and universities.

When a big storm comes to town, our volunteers follow soon after! Captain Barbara's Massapequa crew hauled in a ton of trash after the nor'easter. Thank you for all of your hard work!

The Thursday Wantagh Crew arrived at the Third Wantagh Bridge after the Nor'easter. They quickly got to work after they found remnants of many plastic sandbags scattered across the beach and tangled in the brush. Amazing job, crew!

Captain Gary's Thursday Wantagh crew worked the grassy banks next to Seaman's Neck Park in Seaford last week. These spots are hot, humid, and difficult to navigate thanks to obstacles in the knee-high grass. But these banks disguise garbage and debris! It might look clean from the boat, but when you get close, you see the trash is hidden by the grass and weeds. They filled two large garbage pails with small pieces of trash after plenty of hard work. Excellent job, crew!
